Companies Continue to let David Hogg Bully Them into Submissions

David Hogg, the Parkland high school student turned left-wing activist for progressive social justice warriors, continues to seek to bully anyone he can into submission if they don’t agree with his stand on the National Rifle Association and gun rights.

This time he picked a target close to home as he announced a “lie in” at Publix, Florida’s largest private employer and one of the most respected and beloved companies in the state. The grocery chain operates twenty stores in Hogg’s backyard of Broward County.

Hogg, a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in Florida three months ago, chose to use the 190,000 American workers of the employee-owned supermarket chain as the target of his campaign to end gun violence by taking out the NRA and anyone who supports them.

Publix attracted the 18-year-old’s attention after he learned that the company had contributed over $500,000 to the state’s gubernatorial campaign of Adam Putnam. A vocal Second Amendment advocate, Putnam is also a longtime NRA member.

Hogg targeted Publix as an “NRA sellout” because of donations the company has made to Putnam, Florida Agriculture Commissioner. But he didn’t stop there. MSNBC’s favorite person of interest also demanded that Publix make a pledge that it would never again contribute to a candidate recommended by the NRA.

One has to wonder when David Hogg, will host a die-in at the home of the real culprits of the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Where was his rage at the Broward County Sheriff’s Department for its woeful handling of the day that cost the lives of so many? Or a school system that was more interested in attracting students by cutting a deal with law enforcement refrain from arresting troublemakers and letting the school handle them instead? Or the FBI, who his father works for, for its mishandling of yet another case?

Of course, he does not, because the NRA didn’t have the power to do a thing about the tragedy but is a much easier target.

Several survivors of the shooting last February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School joined in the protest at two Publix supermarkets in Parkland, survivors of the February shooting “USA, not NRA!” Customers were forced to navigate their shopping carts around them, at times needing store employees to retrieve what was needed.

Counter-protesters who support the NRA appeared at one of the stores, where a near-confrontation almost occurred before police intervened.

Publix was bullied into suspending its support for Putnam but Hogg also learned that actions sometimes have unintended consequences. The company decided to stop political contributions to Putnam … and every left-wing entity progressives he holds dear. Thanks to David Hogg, Planned Parenthood will have to look elsewhere for money besides Publix.

Because he convinced Publix to pull political funding from an NRA supporting candidate, the chain not only backed out of funding for Planned Parenthood and abortion advocacy but support for same-sex marriage as well.

Phil Lempert, of the website Supermarket Guru, said: “I think the impact will affect their bottom line in the very short term due to the protests, but canceling all political contributions is a very smart move.”

Lepert believes that Publix may also see a “rush of support for Publix from loyal customers” He said: “Publix will probably have a positive reaction. Everyone knows they are a standup company, especially after a hurricane.”

Having lived through a major hurricane here in Florida, this writer has personally seen how Publix responds to such catastrophic events. The chain’s stores are almost always the first to reopen and provide much-needed assistance.

Hogg took to Twitter to express his outrage that people would actually walk all around and over his group, ignoring his grandstanding, while doing what everyday people do – work, shop, and go home. How dare they?

Thankfully, the majority of Americans live their lives as responsible citizens and refuse to allow the juvenile histrionics that the mainstream media so loves to stand in their way.

David Hogg and his ilk have made it plain that their fight will not end with Publix. His focus, for now, is on the NRA and its supporters but Hogg has already promised to branch out to focus on other leftist issues before long.

The young man’s handlers have bigger things in mind. Considering he unwittingly cost Planned Parenthood dearly, look for him to advocate some other protest soon.
