Conservatives Fight Back Against the Anti-Trump Grammys

Sunday night’s Grammy Awards show was a bit of a bad news/good news story. To no one’s surprise the award show seemed more like a #neverTrump rally than a ceremony that supposedly spotlights the best singers and musicians the industry has to offer. The good news is that less people than ever watched the Grammys this year, down even from its former record all time low in 2013.

The Hollywood Reporter noted the following morning that the awards show took a dramatic ratings spill. Even more troubling for the producers and CBS, the network on which it aired, the show had the smallest demo audience in history. That is what advertiser’s dollars are generally based on the same show next year.

Considering the ratings, the show’s advertisers had to be celebrating that AMC is still showing The Walking Dead reruns. That show doesn’t return for the second half of its season until February 25.

One expected the usual political jokes and occasional grand-standing for a cause but the awards show reached a new low last night as music took the backseat to politics in the over 3 and one half hour “we hate Trump” marathon. Much like many NFL players and Commissioner Roger Goodell seem to have no concern that many of their stadiums were half-filled this season, the presenters on camera last night were seemingly oblivious to the damage they fostered on the brand of the Grammys.

The show kicked off with host, James Corden staging a supposed audition call for a recording artist to do the audio book for Michael Wolff’s hit piece Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House and be presented the Grammy the next year for the best spoken word album. Interspersed between presentations viewers were offered the dramatic readings of the likes of John Legend, Cher, and Snoop Dogg.

Legend garnered roars of cheers and applause from the audience when he read:

“Trump won’t read anything. He gets up halfway through meetings with World leaders because he is bored,”

Then the eternal candidate and Presidential campaign loser, Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance reading an excerpt from Wolff’s boom about why Trump eats at McDonald’s. “He had a longtime fear of being poisoned, one reason why he liked to eat at McDonald’s — nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely premade,” read Clinton.

Following her reading, Cordon appeared to say, “That’s it. That’s the one.”

“You think so?” Clinton replied. “The Grammy’s in the bag.” One has to wonder if the Democrat powers that be were cringing or cheering at that one.

Nikki Haley was quick to let her followers know how she felt about Clinton and other celebrities turning the Grammys into a left-wing hate show. Toward the end of the show she tweeted:

“I have always loved the Grammys but to have artists read the Fire and Fury book killed it. Don’t ruin great music with trash. Some of us love music without the politics thrown in it.”

Donald Trump Jr. also lashed out at Clinton on Twitter saying, “Getting to read a #fakenews book excerpt at the Grammys seems like a great consolation prize for losing the presidency.”

Politics aside it was Piers Morgan, no fan of the President himself, who had the harshest words for the ceremony. Writing for the UK Daily Mailer, Morgan noted the absolute hypocrisy of the entire industry.

The highlight of last night’s Grammys … came when Kesha gave an emotional performance of her single “Praying”, about the alleged sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her former producer ‘Dr Luke’ Gottwald … When Kesha finished singing, she burst into tears, as did many of the audience … But Kesha didn’t win an award. In the category for which she was nominated, Tat went to Ed Sheeran , for a song – as an enraged viewer swiftly pointed out – is about getting a woman drunk and taking her home to have sex with her.

This was the perfect embodiment of the gigantic problem the Grammys has in proudly joining the charge for better treatment of women.

He later tweeted: ‘The Grammys are the most misogynistic of all the awards shows. Why are they allowed to slide? Many women participate willingly in their sexploitation and they all knew.”

Only 17 of the 86 Grammy awards last night went to women. A bad thing in this day of gender equality. Unless of course, you hate Trump.
