There are two reasons why the situation on our southern border with Mexico looks so out of control right now. The first reason is because immigration laws are being enforced once again. It looks chaotic because we’re not used to seeing the Border Patrol be allowed to do its job. The second reason it the situation looks out of control is because, well, it’s out of control.
Foreign invaders from south of the border are obviously over their initial fears of President Trump because border crossings are now up 200 percent over a year ago. They clearly believe that there will be a mass amnesty at some point in the future, whether The Wall is eventually built or not. It’s hard to fault the logic of the illegals when we have such awful politicians here in America, such as Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and the entire Democrat Party.
The Obama administration taught our southern neighbors well. “Be sure to bring kids with you, because then the gullible gringos will never deport you! They don’t even have to be your kids! Just bring any kids you can get your hands on. We won’t tell if you won’t!”
The use of children as political pawns has become the lynchpin of the crying wing of the Republican Party. It literally makes Lindsey Graham choke back sobs for some reason. One of the many ways that the Obama administration pulled a bait-and-switch operation on America’s immigration laws was by granting refugee status to all illegals who brought children into the country.
This was how the number of foreigners granted refugee status and asylum in America jumped from about 3,000 in 2009 – Obama’s first year in office – to more than 30,000 in 2012 when the surge of Central American minors got into full swing. Anyone who called out the administration on this sleight of hand was deemed a heartless monster. It’s the same basic false argument used for the Dreamer fraud, even though these illegal alien children are freshly-arrived.
The liberal argument in favor of automatic asylum and amnesty for illegals, so long as they have children in tow, could be paraphrased like this: “Jose robbed the bank and his minor child was in the car at the time. Even though Jose was caught, the child should get to keep all the money. You don’t want to punish a child for the parents’ crimes, do you, you heartless monster?!”
That was never our point. The point is that the money is not the child’s! It’s American taxpayer money that is used to feed, clothe, house, medicate and educate the offspring of foreign citizens, to the detriment of our own children!
Liberals also like to pretend that illegal alien children are no harm or detriment to our own kids in America. We beg to differ. Most medium-to-large school districts now have 92 languages spoken other than English. You might expect that in Los Angeles, but when that’s happening in Anchorage, Alaska as well, it’s a problem!
How many translators is your local school district forced to hire so that it can educate illegal alien children who are there due to lax federal policy? How much could bloated education budgets be trimmed if all those translators were unnecessary? That’s beside the fact that huge foreign-born populations lead to increased gang violence in American schools (which the media never seems to want to cover for some reason).
There is one bright spot of news to report on the border, however, which is that DHS has announced a new policy for any illegal caught dragging their neighbor’s kid along with them: Zero tolerance. This is a dramatic shift from Obama administration non-enforcement. Anyone who violates the sanctity of our borders will now be prosecuted and put in deportation proceedings, including those who bring children along for extra emotional ammunition against America.
This is another great step in the right direction, although much more needs to be done. As we can see from the massive increase in illegal crossings this year, even fear of capture and deportation is not enough of a deterrent.
Mr. President: We need the wall and we need it now.
