Mueller’s 13 Indictments Exonerate Trump and His Election Team—Here’s Why

The Department of Justice announced that a grand jury had returned with indictments for three Russian companies and thirteen Russian nationals for crimes committed while seeking to interfere with the U.S.’s 2016 presidential election. The 13 Russians, we are told, conducted “information warfare against the United States with the goal of spreading mistrust for the candidates and the political system in general”

There was a time when snow job tactics like this would work, and those days are gone forever. Before the Internet, when people had to rely on the suited goon behind the TV screen to give them the news, ‘wag the dog’ moves like this could still work. When there was nothing you could say, and no other sources of information, people would have just passively accepted this and gone on with their business.

When Rod Rosenstein was as giddy as a little girl as he delivered what he seemed to believe was some kind of smoking gun for the Mueller investigation.

Well, it isn’t a smoking gun. It’s a very tepid distraction dressed up as a victory for the Russian collusion investigation. What these indictments tell us is that non-governmental Russian companies used social media to communicate with American voters in order to sway their opinions one way or another. In other words, they were a team of Internet marketers working through social media in order to forward the interests of whoever was paying them.

This is something advertisers do every day. SEO consultants and advertising gurus openly, and for large amounts of money, advise companies to do this sort of thing constantly. Not only that, but it’s been an open secret for years now that our government does the same thing.

In the old days, if Walter Cronkite had told us that 13 Russians were indicted for trolling and that it was a very big deal, we would have probably shrugged and accepted it. Today, not only do we know better, but we can talk back to these people.

The indictment explicitly states that no American wittingly participated in the crimes that it alleges.

It reads; “Defendant [ORGANIZATION] had a strategic goal to sow discord in the use political system, including the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Defendants posted derogatory information about a number of candidates, and by early to mid-2016, Defendants operations included supporting the presidential campaign of Donald Trump and disparaging the Hillary Clinton. Defendants made various expenditures to carry out those activities, including buying political advertisements on social media in the names of U.S. persons and entities. Defendants also staged political rallies inside the United States, and while posing as U.S. grassroots entities and U.S. persons, and without revealing their Russian identities and [ORGANIZATION] affiliation, solicited and compensated real U.S. persons to promote or disparage candidates.”

Now, put yourself in the shoes of these Russians for a moment. On the other side of the world, there is an election going on. One candidate has promised to nuke your country, and the other talked about making friends. These Russians were trying to prevent a warmongering Clinton Presidency from melting their country like an overheated TV dinner.

But it gets better. The document goes on to say, “Some defendants, posing as U.S. persons and without revealing their Russian association, communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump Campaign and with other political activists to seek to coordinate political activities.”

“Unwitting individuals” cannot collude. It is a legal and logical impossibility. Why would they leave that in? Either the hand of God is directing them to include some grain of truth, or they are deeply, deeply stupid.

The Democratic Party is so invested in the idea that they can just strut out someone in a suit and tie, use some legal terminology and everyone will take it as gospel that they cannot see how transparent their lies are. They are so hubristic and full of themselves they think this makes no difference.

These indictments are totally empty and meaningless. They are nothing more than an attempt to sway the public. There is no one connected to this in any professional capacity who believes that anything other than a news story is going to come of it. The Russian government will never allow their people to be extradited and treated to American justice over this- not when we have been rigging Russian elections for decades.

They have admitted that Trump had no knowledge of any Russian activity related to the election, and neither did his team. The Russian collusion narrative has crumbled completely.
