If there is one downside to having Trump as a president, it is having to listen to the increasingly insane railings of the far left. Progressives have never been a stable force, but their obstinacy since Trump was elected has hit new highs.
Every time he succeeds, they respond with greater inanity. It seems it would be great for a laugh, but unfortunately, this is a significant portion of American votes, and every new idea they propose is more disturbing than the last. Let’s talk about how they want to police your sex life.
New Measure of Homophobia
In progressive circles, it is now deemed homophobic if one is not sexually active with LGBT partners. That’s right. If you do not regularly have sexual intercourse with a select group, then you are now a hateful, bigoted assaulter of human rights and basic decency.
Here’s the “logic” behind the ideology. Say you are in a happy relationship with someone and suddenly find that they are regularly attracted to members of another race. If this news makes you find them less attractive, then you are obviously racist (we’ll talk about this more in a minute).
By extension, if someone’s ties to the LGBT movement make you find them less attractive, then you are homophobic. And, according to progressives, this is the lowest form of hate and degradation.
Let’s not forget that this is a group whose entire ideology hinges on the belief that human attraction is intrinsic and impervious to external influence. After all, if one could choose their sexual orientation in the first place, a lot of their arguments would fall apart pretty quickly.
Despite this core belief, they have taken the stance of those who aren’t with us are against us to a new extreme. The group that has made waves continuously over who does and doesn’t have the right to police bodies is now taking the reckless stance that you must have regular sexual relations with them or you are evil. Sadly, the craziness doesn’t end here.
Racism
This whole tenet stems from an illogical point of view on racism. The idea is that parameters of attractiveness are indicative of racist undertones. Let’s address that because it seems the progressives have completely abandoned the meaning of racism. Here’s a little reminder: racism is a belief or action stemming from a belief that one race is inherently superior to another.
Now, racism can in fact impact a person’s dating criteria, but it’s hardly the only explanation. You don’t need to hear this, but it still needs to be stated. It is possible, and even common, to find a person unattractive without believing they are inferior.
Here’s the real catch 22. If you don’t date a member of a minority, then you are a racist. If, however, you do date outside your race, then you are committing cultural appropriation. As you might have guessed, this is also racist. In their attempts to completely destroy the notion of status quo, the progressives have overextended their definitions to a point of ridiculous, and all of their claims are losing value.
If you are presented with only two option and both are wrong, then what point is there in evaluating the decision at all? Wouldn’t we be better served to analyze decisions that actually reflect on our system and have meaningful impacts?
The Danger
If progressives were just a bunch of kids trying and failing to figure out where they fit in the world, there would be no reason for this discussion. Unfortunately, they are the drivers of increasingly influential political movements in the country, and their radicalized ideals are in fact dangerous.
The same people pushing these new definitions of homophobia and racism are lobbying in Washington and on schools across the country. No matter how crazy their ideas are, they are continuing to be the progenitors of policy in this country.
When people who contradict their most important principles just to demonize their political opponents influence decisions in primary education curricula and policy, they manipulate America further down this path that completely abandons all notions of reason.
I can’t pretend to describe a bill that would demand Americans spread their sex lives equally among groups. I also can’t pretend that such a bill is beyond the demands of Progressive America. Feel free to laugh at the outrageousness of it all, but don’t take it for granted. They are very serious in this issue, and the rational response to it will have to remain equally serious.
