You already knew the Iranian nuclear deal was bad. Every time we have to review it, it grows more infuriating. There’s bad news. The entire situation was much worse than we ever thought. President Trump was contemplating backing out of the deal already, but now things have grown even more dire.
There is new and breaking information in this story. It begins with Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. He announced to the world a few days ago that he has massive intelligence showing how Iran has broken the deal in its entirety. Apparently, Israel found a stockpile of hidden documents and data that show Iran had a nuclear weapon program long before the deal was signed in 2015.
This might sound like a duh moment, but a huge justification for the deal was that there was no solid evidence that Iran was developing nuclear weapons. Their claim was that they just wanted power plants, and the international community couldn’t prove they were lying.
Israel’s new evidence is that missing proof. According to Netanyahu, the evidence literally ways a half ton. It includes documents, blueprints, pictures and digital files. The nuclear program was extensive, and the cache of files suggest that Iran never stopped their weapons development. Unless this can be emphatically debunked, we know that the right was correct about Iran this whole time.
The Traitor Obama
Let’s try to be fair to Obama. He didn’t have access to this newly discovered wealth of evidence. He didn’t get to see unequivocal proof that Iran was striving for nuclear weapons when he brokered the deal. But. He did have countless intelligence reports that suggested as much.
Every expert and intelligence committee agreed that Iran was pursuing weapons of mass destruction. We know this, because it was the basis of the extreme sanctions in the first place. Obama spat in the face of evidence and logic and argued on Iran’s behalf that they only wanted peaceful power plants. It was every bit as absurd then as it is now.
Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of his betrayal. Obama made sure the nuclear deal left wiggle room for Iran to continue developing weapons. Even worse, he gave them a free reign to work on ballistic missile programs. Then, he handed them billions of dollars to fund the whole thing.
There is no way to try to justify any of this as bad judgment or a mistake. It was deliberate. Obama was working to destabilize Israel. If you review his history of decisions in the Middle East, this becomes obvious. Obama jump started an Iranian nuclear weapons program and betrayed his country and the world at large out of some misplaced vendetta against Israel. And they call Trump the anti-Semite.
What Now
The Nobel Peace Prize winner put us in a bad spot. And now, we can see that he did it on purpose. Trump has had his hands full cleaning up after Obama’s countless international blunders, but Iran will probably prove the toughest front. The deal has been signed by many international parties, and if the U.S. is the only country to leave, it won’t be completely devastating to Iran.
President Trump is aware and contemplating solutions. He has already gone on record and given himself a soft deadline of May 12. He’ll review the deal and his options, and we’ll see what he decides. He’s already mentioned a willingness to strike up a brand new Iran deal, but there is no way that can happen quickly.
If that wasn’t enough, you can count on the vociferous left to criticize and undermine anything President Trump does. They would rather obstruct him than see Iran abandon their nuclear weapons. The insanity of it all is difficult to fathom.
If you feel weary, you aren’t alone. The good news is that Trump has secured a strong ally in this particular fight. Netanyahu is determined to prove to all major world leaders that Iran has and continues to work on a nuclear weapons program. Hopefully, his evidence is compelling enough that Trump won’t have to solve this on his own.
Regardless, we have one comfort to which we can cling. The man who is bringing peace to the Korean Peninsula is on the case, and we could ask for no one better to tackle Iran.
