Trump Smashes Obama on Median Household Income

Jobs reports come to us every month, and we never shy away from rubbing it in the liberals’ faces. They honestly believed that electing Trump would spell economic doom.

Instead, we’re on the cusp of the greatest economic period in the history of humanity. Talks of jobs and markets have led this discussion so far, but we have a new report that shows Trump’s winning is bigger and better than you thought.

As it turns out, all Americans are making noticeably more money now that Trump is at the helm. Here’s the breakdown.

Obama’s Numbers

Obama first took office in 2009. As much as we love to rip on him, we also believe in fairness. The housing bubble burst and started the recession late in 2008, and obviously that wasn’t Obama’s fault. Because of that, he was handed a struggling economy. That said, the lowest points in the recession actually hit at the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009.

So, Obama should have started at an exceptional low, and anything resembling remotely effective policy should have been enough to see all kinds of economic numbers rise. This is what actually happened.

The median household income when Obama was sworn into office was $56,731. That was down from a 2007 peak of $59,549. Again, not his fault. Now, Obama declared the recession officially over in 2011. Considering that, his median income numbers in 2015 should have been higher than at the depths of the recession.

Instead, median income in 2015 was $56,526. For those keeping score, that’s a loss of $200. That number didn’t improve until Trump was elected, and then it skyrocketed to $59,471. Still, that’s officially Obama’s number, and it’s not quite as good as the economy before he took office.

Trump’s Numbers

The post-election “Trump bump” saved Obama from otherwise disastrous final numbers in the economy. Even with that, he has succeeded every bit as much as you would expect. He inherited a median income of $59,471. As of April of this year, he boosted that number to $61,483. That’s an improvement of $2,000 in a little over a year.

Remember, Obama had a net loss after seven years in office. If Trump can maintain his pace, his 4-year term will boost the median household income in our country by just under $8,000.

Let’s talk about that for a moment. It’s incredibly difficult to surmise if that’s a realistic outcome. On one hand, the tax cuts immediately led to wage growth that probably won’t be as explosive in coming years. That makes it hard to imagine Trump maintaining this pace of wage growth.

On the other, the bulk of economic expansion expected to come from the cuts has yet to fully hit. Just plain good economics could actually accelerate wage growth beyond what we’ve seen so far.

Other Economic Data

It’s important to remember that Trump isn’t winning on a single metric. His economy is superior in every measurable way. Most importantly, Americans believe the economy is better. That leads to more growth than anything.

Let’s look at how severe the shift is. The very best poll Obama ever saw on economic outlook showed that 45 percent of Americans believed the economy was in good shape. Trump has economic optimism at a 14-year high. As many as 65 percent of Americans now rate the economy as either good or very good, and a full 68 percent believe Trump deserves credit for the economy.

Hiring confidence, investor confidence and consumer confidence are all at modern highs. We can’t say this any more thoroughly. Trump’s economy is winning.

If the economy completely stagnated tomorrow and showed zero growth for the rest of Trump’s term, he would still have outperformed Obama in every way. Instead, all indicators are that things are only beginning to get warm.

And, Trump has proven clearly that he has what it takes to make this economy red hot. While the media tries to lie and deceive, most Americans have noticed that they are making a lot more income today than two years ago. That’s a big change from the Obama years, and it’s a good sign going into midterms. On this front, there is no question. Trump has delivered a great America.
