Trump vs Obama: Inauguration

Once again, news outlets are full of noise against Donald Trump. Leading up to his inauguration today, the narrative centered around the “noble” efforts of Democrats to boycott and even outright protest Trump’s official ascension to power.

This next step towards assaulting the president as a person and politician is a clear sign of how the media will approach the next four years. They will ignore anything and everything of importance in order to continue to try and sully Trump at every turn. While the media is an easy target for discussion, this particular outcry really tells us more about the state of the Democratic Party.

Obama’s Inauguration

The first thing to note here is that attendance is not mandatory for members of Congress, and it really shouldn’t be. Throughout history members of the party that lost the presidency have laid low during the inauguration and generally avoided attention.

This certainly happened each time Obama won, but there are very important distinctions. First, the Republicans in Congress at the time deliberately avoided “mourning parties.” These have been common for decades as a way for representatives of the losing party to get together and wallow in self-pity, and Republicans and Democrats alike have participated many different times.

When Obama won, the message from the right was different. They were determined to oppose Obama on policy issues that they perceived as potentially harmful, but they would respect the office and the man elected to it. The left couldn’t be any more different.

Trump’s Inauguration

The outcry has been loud and impossible to avoid. Across the left people aren’t just abstaining from attending Trump’s swear-in, they are actively protesting it. The narrative is a clear effort to try and undermine Trump’s legitimacy, and if they have to take down the office of the president along the way, they’re happy to do it.

Members of Congress, rather than respectfully letting Trump have his day, are making a spectacle of their absence, attacking the sanctity of the constitution itself. Let’s remember for a moment that these representatives are sworn to uphold the constitution over their own party. It’s funny how swiftly they abandon their job descriptions when things don’t go their way.

The protests and outcry from celebrities and civilians are disruptive, but at least those individuals aren’t on government payroll for the express purpose of maintaining the sanctity of the government. The disruptive leadership coming from the left is a devastating combination of hypocrisy and dangerous, and it makes America vulnerable. The only way it could be more disgusting would be to pair it with a narrative of tolerance.

The People’s Party

Speaking of tolerance, that’s the exact position that the left has claimed for many decades. Their perversion of reality has gone so far that they now claim any tolerance toward Trump is in itself intolerance. If this sounds like illogical drivel, it’s because it is. The self-proclaimed “good guys” of tolerance would literally rather see the country burn than run by political opposition, even if that opposition has done more good for the economy in the two months before taking office than the entire left could accomplish in eight years.

The simple fact is that the left has to be deathly afraid of Trump, for the sole reason that he is swiftly exposing the lies they have stood upon for so long. While they scream that he is sexist, he has counted on more women in higher positions of power than any before him.

While they attack his hatred of the poor, he is the first hope of reversing poverty trends since before the big crash in 2008.

They will call Trump and his group the racists, even though it was the Obama Administration that saw steep hikes in violence against blacks, increased racial pay gaps and the worst downward trends for minority district schools in modern history.

The inaugural boycotts are not surprising, nor are they a new approach. They are just another of many examples that the left has completely abandoned practicality, if not reality as a whole.

They will continue to scream the lies they have followed for so long, and despite their best efforts, the Trump Administration will move forward, fixing the economy and America’s global position. How they will manage to delude themselves of those successful changes remains to be seen, but if they can’t abandon their current course, they may never recover.
