A New Standard Sighting at Hillary Rallies: Hecklers

In recent weeks and months, the political campaign of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has seen its share of hecklers and interrupters from rally crowds increase, as populist anger stews and frustration with the lying liberal candidate mounts.

It hasn’t helped Clinton that “Alt Right” website such as Infowars and other outlets are now selling t-shirts with pictures of Bill Clinton and the word “Rape” on them, which a number of hecklers have chosen to wear while protesting at Clinton rallies. Such displays communicate an additional message that their voices may not, especially if they can’t be heard or they’re caught on camera and the sound is turned down.

Infowars has publicized many such incidents of heckling and has encouraged more people to take an active stand against the former Secretary of State at her forums, even offering anyone who wears the aforementioned t-shirt on television $1,000 or $5,000 for yelling “Bill Clinton Is a Rapist!” at a Clinton rally while wearing it.

Throughout the election season, so concerned has the Clinton campaign been with protesters that in many cases Clinton’s staff has chosen to fill halls and event spaces where she’s been speaking with its own crowds, many of whom are paid to stand and applaud.

In one particular protest incident, Hillary Clinton’s Secret Service handler — who some have suspected is also a doctor (he’s been seen carrying an anti-seizure EpiPen device) — had to reassure Clinton of her safety and her context after an especially vociferous protester was removed, saying, “you’re OK; keep talking” in the candidate’s ear while attempting to get her to start speaking again (and overcome what appeared to be temporary catatonia). Some were reminded of a robot that needed “rebooting.”

At least three hecklers wearing the “Rape” shirt have interrupted Hillary rallies in the last two weeks, and three other protesters took Infowars up on its challenge and yelled out “Bill Clinton Is a Rapist!” while President Obama was speaking to crowds of Clinton supporters in Cleveland, Ohio and Greensboro, North Carolina. Even Bill Clinton himself faced such a daring protester when he spoke in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Obama tried to downplay these incidents, yelling out to one of the hecklers that the man should “get his own rally.” But any seasoned political observer could tell that these angry people are starting to get under the Clintons’ and the Obamas’ skin.

One African-American protester at a recent Obama-led rally was roughly dragged out by security, as opposed to being politely escorted out as other demonstrators have been in past rallies.

This harsh new tactic was likely used in spite of the fact that deep down, Democrats know that people have a right to be angry. Almost one in three American men is out of work. The national debt under Obama has doubled — he’s added more to it than all previous U.S. presidents combined. And yet, real household income hasn’t risen above 2007 levels.

Where did the money go?

In fact, Obama is no stranger to people being rankled by his lies and his failed policies. Famously, in 2009, Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina stood up while the president was speaking to a joint session of Congress about immigration and yelled “You lie!” in front of a shocked audience of lawmakers.

Wilson later apologized for the outburst, but the incident will go down in the history books as a rare, public rebuke of a sitting president in front of an audience of both houses of legislators.

Such frequent and disruptive protests are a new development in the presidential race, which in the past has seen candidates speaking uninterrupted with spontaneous applause and polite questioning from respectful listeners.

The radical departure of recent rallies from this model is indicative of how unhappy the country’s electorate is and how much patience they’ve lost with our current leaders. The happy whitewashing of gritty economic and social truths will no longer be tolerated or quietly ignored while a candidate speaks platitudes, seeking only to extend such destructive policies as open borders, free trade agreements, disastrous wars and Obamacare.

Interviews with hecklers of Clinton have revealed that such individuals are indeed dissatisfied with the country’s direction and the former Secretary of State’s stances on immigration, globalism and Islamic terrorism.

One protester, “Sean” (he didn’t wish to give his last name) heckled Clinton at a rally in Reno, Nevada in August this year. Sean said “I call myself Alt Right because the conservative/establishment right in this country does not represent my views; they’re just as much to blame for the disaster taking place in America as the left. The Alt Right to me is fiscal responsibility, secure borders, enforcement of immigration laws, ending the PC culture and promoting America first, not Sharia first.”

Sean said he took offense to Clinton calling out Infowars’ Alex Jones by name. “She started attacking a true patriot, and someone I really look up to — Alex Jones — misrepresenting his Sandy Hook stance, misrepresenting what a ‘False Flag’ is and discrediting his history of great work, so I let out a cheer when she mentioned his name, and when she was done with her talking point, I yelled ‘InfoWars.com!’ She also attacked Breitbart and Steve Bannon personally, trying to discredit [Bannon] and Breitbart, which has some of the best reporting on the Net, along with InfoWars and Drudge. To name-drop all these sites tells me that her campaign is in panic mode and is getting desperate.”

It’s true that most of these same websites have seen their traffic increase several-fold as more Americans seek to get the unvarnished truth about events in the news, as opposed to the Democrats’ spin.

When people find out how much of the mainstream-promoted news is spoon-fed to the networks and news sites by the present government and its party, outrage turns into a desire to confront political leaders directly in person.

One wonders if this phenomenon grows if candidates in the future will only speak to friendly, paid or vetted audiences. Throughout history, it’s been a time-honored tradition of political candidates (and all speakers) to face down hecklers and brush them off nonchalantly.

But in the future, if politics continues to be as slickly scripted as the Democrats’ presidential campaign has been this year, one wonders how much true democracy we will have left — especially when it comes to rights of free speech.
