America First: China Losing in the Trade War

  • When President Donald J. Trump threw down the gauntlet informing China that the days of intellectual property theft, currency manipulation, and lopsided trade deals were over, China laughed. They didn’t believe after decades of feeble politicians that anyone would be about to stand up to them.

What they have subsequently learned is that President Trump doesn’t mess around. Pres. Trump knew something that all his predecessors did not — how to win in negotiations. It goes without saying that you don’t hire a mechanic to do open-heart surgery and you don’t hire a “community organizer” to oversee the world’s largest economy.

What has been conveniently unreported by the fake news media is that China’s upper-crust was roundly divided between cutting a quick deal and going toe-to-toe with President Trump. Some worried about the consequences of a protracted trade war. Others had grown confident having easily railroaded the inept Obama-Biden administration into accepting the Trans-Pacific Partnership that would have made China the undisputed number one economy.

Unfortunately for the communists, Hillary did not usher in Obama 2.0. These days, China’s economy is in the beginning stages of a deep recession.

China’s own state-run media is reporting breath-holding economic data. Internal propaganda says that the country’s economy is the weakest it has been in more than 17 years. Independent sources point to a 27-year low.

What’s particularly startling about the communists releasing bad numbers is that for decades it has painted a growth picture that far exceeded reality. Reports indicate that China has misled the world on their economic health by tacking on about 2-percent to its GDP figures for years.

Facts are surfacing that the Asian nation’s economy has shrunk from a reported $13.4 trillion in 2018 to $10.9 trillion. That’s an 18-percent loss that has the communists terrified about a drawn out, great depression. Apparently, President Trump’s tariffs hit right when their economy was unsteady, and the impact has been devastating.

Although the fake news media in the U.S. has been screaming “recession, recession” to undermine the Trump Administration, the American economy continues to chug along posting a surging economy, historically low unemployment, robust wage growth, and high stock market measures. But each time the fake news media pushes another phony narrative, hard numbers point to improved American prosperity.

China recently attempted to mirror the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that has formed the bedrock of the American economic revival. Chinese President Xi Jinping has pushed through tax cuts and corporate incentives to jumpstart the faltering business and consumer landscape.

The same principles do not hold true in a communist-run Ponzi scheme. Underwriting a manufacturing sector so that it can flood the world with cheap knockoffs and undercut quality product-makers doesn’t work when things slip. Just ask Bernie Madoff.

Capitalism works because free countries don’t rely on the government to support industry. Business just wants the government to get out of the way so industry leaders can win, big league.

Despite the left-wing media’s obsessions with losing and victimhood, China has blinked a couple of times. In August, the communists pleaded with U.S. negotiators and the White House to meet them halfway on a trade deal.

“We hope the United States will meet China halfway,” China’s foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang reportedly said. He stated the Asian power wanted to “work out a resolution that is acceptable to both sides on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment.”

The response he got from President Trump was not the kowtowing the communists had become accustomed to from Obama.

“Whether it’s good or bad short term is irrelevant,” President Trump reportedly said. “We have to solve the problem with China. Somebody had to take China on.”

In other words: No. No to unfair trade deals, no to currency manipulation, no to stealing American innovation to the tune of $600 billion every year, and no to lifting tariffs.

China appears to have been brought to its knees after it took the humiliating step of lifting tariffs leveled against U.S. soybean and pork. President Xi believed he could upend the America First agenda by targeting conservative voters and heaped on 12- to 62-percent levies on pork. The heartland responded by backing the president, and 67 percent of farmers plan to re-elect President Trump.

By contrast, pork farmers in China are currently suffering the worst African swine flu in decades, and the illness is expected to render 50 percent of the pig population diseased. Prices have already shot up by upwards of 46 percent and could skyrocket by 80 percent by year’s end. It looks like an almost biblical punishment to the atheist Chinese communists.

China has lost the trade war. Everyday Americans may not hear that widely reported by the liberal media, just like the defeat of ISIS went underreported. But make no mistake about it, America is the most powerful nation in the history of the world when we stand our ground.
