Flynn’s Sentencing Could Spell the End for Mueller’s “Witch Hunt”

President Trump’s former national security chief, Michael Flynn requested a delay in sentencing in a yet another example of how far Robert Mueller will go in as the President termed it, his “witch hunt.” He will return to a court room in mid-March, which is also when Mueller is expected to wrap up his never ending probe.

Retired 3 Star General Michael Flynn is a credit to our country like few in Washington have ever known. Because of his stellar leadership battlefield intelligence operations he later was appointed by Barack Obama as the head of the powerful Defense Intelligence Agency.

But Flynn, like too many others, has learned the hard way that the liberal left’s tolerance doesn’t extend to those they disagree with. In 2014, Obama forced Flynn into early retirement for vague reasons of mismanagement.

In his final interview as DIA director Flynn gave the real reason for his “early retirement.” According to Agence France-Presse: “he felt like a lone voice in thinking that the United States was less safe from the threat of Islamic terrorism in 2014 than it was prior to the 9/11 attacks; he went on to believe that he was pressed into retirement for questioning the Obama administration’s public narrative that Al Qaeda was close to defeat.”

That wouldn’t be the last time his detractors hung Flynn out to dry.

Two years after Obama rid himself of the General, Trump appointed him to be his National Security Adviser. Once again, the left came after Flynn with a vengeance, but with a bigger target in sight. This time it was the President himself.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller sought an indictment of Flynn, not for anything connected with Russia, but for making false statements to the FBI. Flynn plead guilty to lying to the FBI over a conversation he had with the Russian ambassador. In fact, that conversation was part of his responsibility as part of Trump’s staff.

And Flynn’s crime? He “misspoke” after being entrapped by then Acting Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, Agent Peter Strzok, and former FBI Director James Comey. The FBI agents did not read Flynn his rights nor inform him that his words could be used against him.

So what lengths will Mueller go to get at President Trump? He used three now-disgraced FBI agents to entrap a decorated General in the hoped his legal peril might force him to speak about something that never existed, Trump/Russia collusion.

Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe last year because he “lacked candor.” McCabe later denied that he had ever been dishonest claiming his firing was politically motivated. This past April the US Department of Justice Inspector General sent a criminal referral to federal prosecutors alleged criminal charges against McCabe for lying to internal investigators.

Perhaps it is more than an irony that General Michael Flynn was an adverse witness against Andrew McCabe in a sex abuse case at the same time McCabe and company entrapped him.

Former Director McCabe was fired for lying about a leak to the Wall Street Journal. Former FBI Agent Peter Strzok was fired for sharing texts on government equipment with his lover about their hatred for Trump. Former FBI Director James Comey resigned after the DOJ Inspector General report found that Comey had “a serious error in judgment” in his handling of the Clinton email investigation.

Three disgraced FBI agents who have all expressed their distaste for President Trump went after a decorated 3 Star General for not telling them what Mueller wanted to hear.

Andrew Klavan recognized this disparity recently on his radio show in pointing out what should be obvious. Unlike James Comey, Flynn is not a media darling whose recent book tour is raking in the money. Flynn is a career soldier. As Klavan noted, “[General Flynn] hasn’t got a lot of money, it would have bankrupted him to have defended himself against it, and his son was also in danger of becoming a legal target… So they threatened him.”

Mueller sought no jail time. Why? Because Michael Flynn is just a speed bump in Mueller’s path to take down Donald Trump.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) told Fox News: “the Senate might actually have to go to a federal judge and say, let’s talk about the lies you were told … by this Department of Justice.”

Lies to get at the real target – the sitting President of the United States.
