Is Anti-Semitism Finally Killing the Women’s March?

Do you remember the Women’s March? Shortly after Trump’s inauguration, a bunch of women got together to demand . . .something. There wasn’t really a unified message. There were a lot of pink hats shaped like female genitalia, but no one is really sure what the march accomplished — or even tried to accomplish.

None of that has stopped the movement. The Women’s March has remained an organized activist group, and while they’ve been a little under the radar for the past year, they haven’t stopped their demands for nondescript change.

Now, they’re back in the spotlight, only this time the liberal media isn’t heaping mountains of underserving praise on them. A number of prominent members have openly criticized the movement and won’t return until the March abandons its anti-Semitic ways.

Wait, Anti-Semitism?

Don’t feign ignorance. The Women’s March is one of the largest and most liberal movements in the country. Of course it’s anti-Semitic. To clarify, the source of new ire surrounding the movement is leveled at Tamika Mallory, Carmen Perez and Linda Sarsour. They are the three founders and leaders of the March, and while none of them are on record saying overtly anti-Semitic remarks, they’re still under fire.

It actually all comes back to Louis Farrakhan. All three of the previously mentioned ladies have close personal and professional ties to Farrakhan, and their stubborn refusal to denounce him has led to severe backlash. It only took two years, but they are finally being criticized for at least one of their poor decisions.

Farrakhan’s History

By now, you’ve heard the name Louis Farrakhan plenty. It gets thrown around a lot in political discussions, and associating with him leads to a type of bogeyman effect. It’s actually pretty weird when you look at prominent liberals. They’ll try to hide any direct interactions with the man, but when confronted, none of them will openly condemn him. Let’s talk about that.

Farrakhan rose to prominence as a leader of the Nation of Islam (NOI). It’s a decades-old extremist group for Muslims in America. No, the word extremist isn’t being thrown around here. The NOI has long been suspected of orchestrating the assassination of Malcolm X, and Farrakhan himself is believed to be a direct player in the whole deal. Naturally, that’s not the extent of his misdeeds.

Outside of the NOI, Farrakhan is a religious leader among Muslims. He has been notorious for years, and he has an extensive history of spewing violent rhetoric every chance he gets. To put this in perspective, we can look at one of his most famous quotes, “And don’t you forget, when it’s God who puts you [Jews] in the oven, it’s forever.”

In case that isn’t extreme enough for you, Farrakhan was caught on camera leading chants of “death to America” in Iran. That happened in 2018. Topping all of that is Farrakhan’s support of violent Islamic practices. He believes in jihad, death to infidels and the longstanding tradition of honor killing rape victims. Even after saying all of this publicly, prominent leftists still won’t denounce him.

Fallout from Farrakhan

Even if the Women’s March leaders aren’t ready to cut ties, notable supporters of the March are. If you can believe it, Alyssa Milano was the first to voice her concerns. She made it clear that she cannot support any movement that won’t denounce Farrakhan, and she has galvanized others to join her.

The most recent celebrity to join her was Debra Messing. Now, we’ll be the first to say that a liberal cause losing the support of a few celebrities isn’t something we normally care about, but for the Women’s March, this is a huge blow. The left has long been taking their cues from uneducated celebrities, and these new cues will hurt overall support substantially.

It’s frankly a refreshing development. Women who seem to sincerely want to fight for equality are finally acknowledging that the single biggest threat to women’s rights in this world is Islam. They’re still going to blame Trump, but if they can recognize the evil that is Louis Farrakhan, maybe there’s hope for progress after all.

Before you go, it’s important to remember the why’s in all of this. Why won’t the left just cut Farrakhan? The answer is simple: he’s the most influential leader among American Muslims. That’s it. Don’t misunderstand; this isn’t just a ploy for a minority voting group. The left won’t criticize Farrakhan because they refuse to admit that Islam is a religion of violence. It doesn’t support their anti-Christian narrative.

Thankfully, that tactic is coming back on them, and members of the left who don’t always drink the Kool Aid are waking up. There’s still a long way to go, but a little good news doesn’t hurt.
