Is Trump Getting Bad Advice?

Donald Trump’s has faced fierce opposition from the right, the left, the media, and the corporate world since the minute he took over for President Obama. He has spoken to the people of middle America promising to respect their right to earn their livings through honest labor and he has delivered on his promises to them.

It has been clear, however, that the attempts by his opponents will not be limited to debate and legitimate political maneuvering, but will include subterfuge, lies, espionage, deception and everything those things imply.

So the question is, who within Trump’s cabinet are working for their legitimate boss- The president, and how many are infiltrators?

Today we take a look at key members of the administration and piece together a clear picture of what kind of team Trump is relying on- and even more key- whether or not he is getting honest and accurate information.

Mike Pence – Vice President

Early on, there was a lot of concern that Pence could be an establishment plant- placed there to serve as a puppet in the event of Trump’s untimely demise. Commentators have expressed concern that Pence would be willing to compromise and play politics as usual where Trump himself would focus on his populist goals. So far, however, Pence has shown no signs of disloyalty despite his disagreement with Trump on several core conservative issues.

James (Maddog) Mattis – Secretary of Defense

The appointment of James Mattis has been widely misinterpreted as a sign of the overbearing militarism of the incoming Trump administration. But a more nuanced look at General Mattis within the atmosphere of Trump’s foreign policy suggests that his interest will not be to engage in long exhausting wars of regime change- but rather to enter only necessary battles with the intention to win and exit.

This we have already seen in the Syria airfield strike and the MOAB deployment, both of which destroyed strategic targets without involving our forces in a drawn out land war.

Jeff Sessions – Attorney General

Sessions is a law and order AG, which has got much of Trump’s pro-marijuana support base worried. But Sessions has also taken steps to raise the war on human trafficking to the next level- as Trump had promised. So far, each month of Sessions’ time under Trump there have been more human trafficking related arrests than the average annual number.

This is what many are calling Trump’s quiet war against both human trafficking and child sex trafficking. This is arguably the best thing to come out of the White House since Lincoln’s abolition of slavery.

Ben Carson – Secretary of HUD

In his first few weeks as Secretary of HUD, Carson has rooted out millions of dollars of waste, abuse, and fraud. What’s wonderful about Carson’s early victories is, he didn’t have to pull off any extraordinary investigations- he only had to look at HUD’s financial records with the steely-eyed realism and honesty that we expect of a Trump appointee.

Reince Priebus – White House Chief of Staff

Priebus is a lawyer and former RNC Chairman. He has taken a great deal of heat as the likely culprit of many of the leaks that have been undermining the President and his team.

Priebus has been involved in suspicious meetings surrounding the false Russian hacking narrative and he also suspiciously gave the FBI false statements concerning several espionage incidents. The strangest thing is that with all this suspicion around him, how does he manage to keep his job when the unsullied Michael Flynn was dismissed just for being involved in an exaggerated controversy?

Mike Pompeo – CIA Director

Pompeo does not inspire confidence. He quoted WikiLeaks numerous times during the run-up to the election- but later derided the whistleblower website as a hostile foreign intelligence service. It is undeniable that without WikiLeaks’ revealing the crimes, corruption, and extremely suspicious dealings of the DNC-this election could have turned out very differently. Therefore, we find this turn of events, unsettling.

Steve Bannon – Former Trump Advisor

Finally, we come to Steve Bannon, who recently stepped down from Trump’s national security council. As we’ve reported previously Bannon has been at odds with Trump’s son in law Jared Kushner and has pushed back on several key issues, likely ruffling the President’s feathers.

But his advice would almost certainly have been the most accurate, and politically astute available to Trump.

However, he has retained his security access and we hope this means he will still be able to advise the President while remaining out of the limelight. If that is the case, it would be an example of the kind of deep, long-game strategy that we hope Trump is using as he presses against deeply entrenched political opposition.
