Just Vote, the Blue Wave Is a Lie

There’s an old saying that Haitian voodoo spells only work on you if you believe in voodoo. The victim of a voodoo spell will psych himself out and give himself a heart attack worrying about it, and then the witch doctor claims credit for his voodoo magic working. CNN and all its Fake News compadres are the witch doctor in 2018. Don’t fall for their lying voodoo. There’s not going to be a blue wave.

But! But! But! Historically, the party in power loses an average of 30 seats in the midterm elections, looking back over the past 21 midterms!

Uh, okay, sure, we can play the number-fudging game if you’d like.

The “party in power” loses an average of 30 House seats in the midterms. That is actually a true but misleading statement. The media loves to throw that figure around, so they can pretend that a “blue wave” is inevitable… so, you should just stay home and not vote in November. It wouldn’t do any good for you to vote anyway!

Yes, if you average the 1994 wipeout when Democrats lost 54 House seats because of “Hillarycare,” as well as the 2010 wipeout when Democrats lost 63 seats because of Obamacare, then it averages out to 30 lost seats in a midterm election.

The party in power has historically had some pretty big wipeouts due to a variety of events. Republicans under Eisenhower got wiped out in 1958 when the economy was in a massive recession and Americans were demoralized after the Soviets launched Sputnik. Democrats under FDR and Truman suffered massive wipeouts year after year through the 1930s and ‘40s. That means there will be a blue wave in 2018!

Or, not.

It’s a little weird to compare election numbers in America today, which has 50 states, to the America of yesteryear when the nation was still growing. The media doesn’t mind playing that game, however, because it’s one of the biggest components in their current bag of voodoo tricks. If you break midterm elections up by party after the USA became a 50-state nation, the media’s little numbers trick falls apart.

Starting with John F. Kennedy’s administration, Democrats have lost an average of 27 House seats in every midterm election in which they controlled the White House. That’s including the two big wipeouts of 1994 and 2010.

Republicans, on the other hand, have only averaged a 17-seat loss in the midterms in that time period (including the 48-seat wipeout that voters delivered to unelected Gerald Ford in the wake of Watergate).

17 seats? That doesn’t sound quite like a wipeout. If the historical average holds, the GOP would still maintain a one-seat majority in the House of Representatives.

But who says that historical averages mean anything now that a certain you-know-who has turned the entire political world and media establishment on its head?

Should we believe the pollsters that there will be a blue wave in November? What was it that those exact same pollsters were telling us back in November of 2016? Does anyone remember that far back?

Oh, right. There was a 90% chance that Hillary Clinton would win the election. The media and their pet pollsters beat us over the head with the inevitability, the absolute certainty, that 2016 was to be Hillary Clinton’s coronation. Her Turn! You are doomed, neener neener neeeeener!

But then what happened on election night? Liberal tears poured and we all felt like Al Pacino when he plunged his face into a big pile of yay-yo. Say hello to our little friend named MAGA!

Let’s see if we have this straight. The same pollsters who tried to browbeat you with their 90% certainty of Hillary’s victory now have you worried about the 2018 midterms, dear conservative friends? Why would you trust the media and the pollsters now, when they have provably, demonstrably lied to you about everything else of consequence?

It really is voodoo for these people. They believe that if they repeat a lie often enough, they can magically conjure it into existence. Russian hookers! Collusion! Pottygate! Two scoops of ice cream! Racist KKK Nazi!

Given the media’s track record under President Trump, your best bet is to always assume they are lying and do the exact opposite of what they recommend.

In Texas, Republicans just won a special election in a district that Democrats have solidly held for 129 years. Hillary won that district two years ago by 12 points. That result is neither blue nor wavy. It’s indicative that Republicans are going to outperform the Democrats once again and defy all expectations – not because the Republicans are particularly great, but because Trump is.

The Democrats and the media with their paltry voodoo spells can’t hold a candle to President Trump’s magic economy wand. Why did that solidly blue district in Texas flip to the GOP? Because Trump has brought jobs back. Even a heavily Hispanic district like that one can be turned around if you’re on their side and give them opportunity. Trump’s support among black voters has quadrupled for the same reason, so expect some similar upsets in “reliably blue” districts come November.

Gun-grabbing weirdo Michael Bloomberg desperately wants to be president. He’s wanted the job for years. Running against a weakened and wounded Trump in 2020 would be a sure thing for him, at least in the minds of most Democrats. But just this week, Bloomberg announced that he would make his decision on a 2020 run “after the midterms.”

You could call Michael Bloomberg a lot of things and be right, but “dummy” is not one of those things. He’s a billionaire, after all. He’s looked at the landscape and he doesn’t think a blue wave is coming. If he was certain of a blue wave, he’d be throwing his hat in.

Finally, there’s not going to be a blue wave because GOP voters have nothing to punish Republicans for. What would you hammer them for? Jobs? Prosperity? Law and order? Not attacking Kyrgyzstan?

The only thing that could blow it for Republicans in November is if they fail to confirm the honorable Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Unfortunately for Democrats, Cocaine Mitch says that ain’t gonna happen.

No matter how many crazy cat ladies Dianne Feinstein drags out of America’s universities, who have suddenly regained their repressed memories of that one time at band camp 30 years ago when Kavanaugh behaved like Bad Touch Biden around them and they forgot to tell anyone about it, Cocaine Mitch is pushing the nomination through.

In summary: Vote in November. Ignore the media’s voodoo. And don’t mess with Cocaine Mitch.
