Have you heard anyone quote the scientific consensus nonsense this week? It seems inescapable. The great irony of it all is that the so-called scientific consensus on climate change has been thoroughly debunked.
In the meantime, progressives have been hard at work over the last few months to silence any real science that goes against their narrative. That doesn’t surprise you, but we have a few cold, hard cases that get to call them out for all of their hypocrisy.
Here are two recent studies that have been fully vilified by the left. When you see how harmless they are, you’ll probably fall over.
Brown University
A professor by the name of Lisa Littman did a study to look at the onset of gender dysphoria. Oh look. We’re already in trouble with progressives for how we said that. Anyways, Littman’s study looked for commonalities among kids who become transgender to see if there are identifiable causes that might help with treatment. The study took years and analyzed hundreds of transgender kids.
What it found is that kids rarely experience an onset of gender dysphoria alone. In more than two-thirds of cases, the kids had a close friend (or more) who also suffered from the condition around the same time.
Additionally, Littman found a strong correlation between gender dysphoria and psychological trauma. This can be from a single event or additional psychological conditions. None of this is new knowledge, but she added a lot of raw data to the science and helped push leading theories farther along.
The controversy came when Brown University worked to have the study completely removed from publication. Despite the fact that it was peer reviewed and a mathematically objective scientific study, Brown decided that it wasn’t safe to be publicly displayed. They worried that conservative outlets would make the knowledge mainstream. Think about that for a minute. Brown pulled a study because they worried that conservatives would make legitimate science too popular. Isn’t the right supposed to be anti-science?
Obviously the real problem Brown and liberals have with this study is that it counters their narrative. The data shows strong evidence that gender dysphoria is both a social and psychological condition. According to actual science, you are in fact not born that way. How dare scientists use their methods to provide true answers to questions like this!
Ted Hill
That, of course, was not the only science that the left has recently silenced. Ted Hill is a professor of math at Georgia Tech. He is also a research collaborator with Cal Poly. He recently compiled some research (almost as if it’s his job). His “controversial” study looked at “greater male variability.”
The concept has existed as long as the theory of evolution. While we’re not getting into all of that today, we’ll explain the premise of male variability. The idea suggests that out of a large enough population sample of mammals, you will see a wider variety of traits among the males than the females. Keep in mind that this isn’t just a hypothesis. Countless studies have confirmed that it’s true. What is still questionable is why.
Hill did a study to try and help answer that question. He used a bunch of math to suggest that male populations have greater variability because they are more significantly impacted by selective breeding. In simpler terms, it’s easier for a woman to find a sexual partner than a male. As a result, males develop a wider range of traits to compete for females. As Hill himself put it, “You get more geniuses and idiots among males.” Keep in mind that this is across mammal species. It’s not specific to humans.
Naturally, progressives couldn’t handle this research. Once again, they attacked objective math because they didn’t like what it says. The University of Chicago and a number of other liberal institutions worked to remove the study from any publication. Basically, their complaint is that it isn’t feminist enough. Seriously.
There are legitimate reasons to attack science. Methods can be flawed, and anyone who really studies in the sciences knows that humanity has a long way to go in understanding anything at all. What’s truly unacceptable is for a political group to spend over a decade attacking their opponents as inherently anti-science and then work to actively censor legitimate scientific studies.
If they were as progressive in action as they are in name, they would want these studies to go viral in order to push and develop conversations and understanding. In truth, they the modern thought police and they will never tolerant any dissidence — even when they commission the studies in the first place.
