Michigan Legislature Calls Emergency Session to Stop Their Own Governor

How is everyone in Michigan enjoying their governor’s audition to be Joe Biden’s VP nominee? Is it a lot of fun having a deranged totalitarian banning you from planting a garden, fishing by yourself, going to church, buying paint, or traveling to your own home?

The hopefully good news in all of this is that Michigan voters might not have to wait a few years to throw Governor “Karen* Would Like to Speak to the Manager” Whitmer out of office. That’s because the Michigan legislature has called itself into a special session to try to stop her.

A lot of governors have gone completely overboard with this shutdown nonsense. Like the Brother of Fredo in New York, who bashed President Trump for weeks over ventilators that his state didn’t need. Or Nancy Pelosi’s Nephew in California, Governor Gavin Newsom, who has thrown people on the unemployment rolls in counties that still have ZERO virus cases to date. Or the New Jersey governor who doesn’t even merit a nickname, who said he didn’t even consider the Bill of Rights when he banned Christians from attending in-person church services on the most important holy day of the year.

These hapless goofs are proving once and for all that even when you have the “right people” implementing socialism, socialism still doesn’t work. They get a huge kick out of their newfound powers to boss you around and prevent you from pursuing life, liberty, happiness and toilet paper. But out of all of these Mini Mussolini’s, none of them have gotten such a thrill out of their new powers as Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Just look at her face. Whitmer gets a sensual Chris Matthews-style thrill up her leg every time she imposes a new restriction on the people who trusted her to run their state. She looks like she needs to go get a room with her Executive Orders.

A week ago, fed up Michiganders showed up at the state capitol in Lansing to protest Whitmer’s totalitarian lockdown of their economy. Thanks to Governor Karen’s capricious bans, Michigan now has the highest unemployment rate in the country. That’s amazing in itself, especially when you consider that a staggering 50% of Los Angeles’ population is now unemployed.

For daring to object to Governor Karen’s orders, she called Michigan voters “Nazis” and threatened to extend the lockdowns on the ungrateful little people. And then she did just that.

While Michigan voters were hoping to have the state’s lockdowns lifted on May 1st, Whitmer pushed the state’s house arrest orders back to May 15th. There’s no scientific or medical reason for this. This extension is only Governor Karen’s revenge on the people for speaking out against her. You Michiganders didn’t obey the prissy, authoritarian kindergarten teacher, so she’s taking away your finger-paints for another two weeks.

Upon hearing the news, the Michigan legislature called an emergency special session to try to strip Whitmer’s emergency powers away from her. They’re looking at a number of options. Those include amending Michigan’s 1945 Emergency Powers of the Governor Act, which Whitmer is using to abuse her authority right now. On Friday, the state legislature voted to amend the 1976 Emergency Management Act, it reduced the number of days that Governor Whitmer can declare a state of emergency from 28 days down to 14 days. Meh.

How about impeaching her? More than 300,000 Michigan voters have signed a petition to boot Whitmer directly out of office. Sure, that’s a long way from a majority of Michigan voters, but there is a lot of public sentiment in favor of getting rid of her.

If President Donald Trump can be impeached for a phone call with the president of Ukraine in which he never offered a quid pro quo, can’t the Michigan Governor be impeached for depriving citizens of constitutional rights?

Hey, you made up the new rule that executive leaders can be impeached for whimsical reasons, liberals! If people won’t impeach a governor for that, we’re in serious trouble as a nation (everything else aside).

Governor Karen has stamped the perfect footnote on the legislature’s efforts to stop her. This is an exact quote from her, after she was asked about the special session:

“I’m not going to sign any bill that takes authority away from me.”

“I”… “Me”… And there you have it. Pay close attention, especially if you’re a voter in Michigan. Because this is ALL about Governor Karen and has nothing to do with public health and safety.

*If you’re unfamiliar with the term, “Karen” is often used as an American slang nickname to denote a bossy middle-aged feminist who enjoys pushing around minimum wage customer service clerks.
