Nancy Pelosi Says She Won’t Send Impeachment Articles to Senate, So What Was the Point Then?

Advice to the Democrats: Be careful what you wish for.

What they wished for was to impeach a President they couldn’t stand. Never mind the evidence; just go with mob rule.

While they put on their ill-fitting patriotism pants and got all nostalgic about our founders, they should have paid attention to Ben Franklin. Old Ben observed that democracy was two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.

The House of Representatives, after its shameful, rushed, and unfair impeachment hearings and vote stands gutted by the weakest case for impeaching a President in our nation’s history. That case is further undermined by Nancy Pelosi’s previous insistence that impeachment can only occur after strong evidence.

It also must, Pelosi pontificated, be bipartisan.

The process was everything nonpartisan is not. The vote was a textbook example of partisan. Not a single Republican voted for impeachment. Democrats sham trials convinced three of its own to cross party lines and vote against impeachment In fact, the House of Representatives using this partisan process could become like the Italian Parliament with its constant collapses and votes of no confidence.

Now that the left-wing wolves of her party have been satisfied, Nancy Pelosi says she will not necessarily send the articles of impeachment over to the Senate. Certainly not immediately she mused.

What happened to the rush to get this all done by Christmas?

So what happens if Nancy delays sending over the articles of impeachment to the Senate?

The Democrats are not finished undoing the 2016 election. They know that public support for the impeachment has slipped, and Nancy knows that Adam Schiff has blown his assignment. Perhaps, with just a little more time, some embedded whistle blower will write up another fake complaint.

They can wait to impeach the President again, for another made up crime. “Impeachment forever!” they shout.

On the other hand, maybe her goal is to hamstring President Trump politically. He’ll just have to behave and let the Democrats run the show. She shouldn’t bank on that. Democrats have tried everything. They have shot their wad with impeachment, and now they are verging on desperation.

Technically the Senate can not move forward with a trial or their investigations until Pelosi sends over the articles. So if she doesn’t, then impeachment is dead in the water.

Why do this? It’s been talked about how several members of the Senate are running for President and their campaign schedules would be negatively impacted. They can’t campaign if they are supposed to be at the President’s impeachment trial.

But there may be another reason Nancy isn’t sending over the articles of impeachment to the Senate right away. She has said she hasn’t heard anything from the Senate to indicate that they will hold a fair trial, a.k.a. impeach the President.

Her last ditch effort here to get President Trump impeached might be to hold onto the articles until the polls and support for impeachment swing back in her favor (none of them are in her favor at the moment).

In reality she can hold onto the articles indefinitely. She can lord them over Trump’s head to get him to do her bidding.

Whatever her motivation, the fact that Speaker Pelosi hasn’t designated her House impeachment managers to send the articles over and has griped that the Senate won’t let her have her way, shows an obvious lack of confidence in a job badly done. She knows how Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell feels about her whole stinking mess.

In a 40-minute speech, Sen. McConnell illustrated the wisdom of our founders when they established the Senate. The House, Sen McConnell pointed out, has succumbed to a fever-pitch of partisan hatred. Nancy’s minions crafted a weak set of Articles of Impeachment alleging not a single crime.

Moreover, the second article on obstruction was patently ridiculous. How can you impeach a President for invoking executive privilege guaranteed by the Constitution and charge him with violating the Constitution?

Finally, Sen. Ted Cruz, observed that it may be a simple matter of the Democrats panicking and getting cold feet. Alluding to Speaker Pelosi’s threat not to forward the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, Sen. Cruz laughed and said, “OK… don’t send them…We actually have work to do.”
