It’s been incredibly illuminating to watch the Never-Trump wing of Conservatism, Inc. rush to defend Hollywood director James Gunn. For those who missed the headlines, Gunn was fired by Disney when conservative activists and journalists pointed out dozens of his tweets describing sexually explicit acts against babies, toddlers and small children.
James Gunn claims the tweets from 2009-2012 were “jokes.” Gunn directed both Guardians of the Galaxy films which have earned Disney approximately $1.6 billion in worldwide revenue.
It’s great that Disney had the moral fortitude to fire Gunn for “joking” about raping infants – but why don’t the Never-Trumpers have the same kind of courage?
We won’t bother reprinting James Gunn’s Tweets. They’re online at many news sources and you’ll quickly find them if you want to read them for yourself. Suffice to say, the man’s remarks about children are sickening, demented and persistent over a period of many years. As Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) remarked, if Gunn’s tweets are true, he deserves to be prosecuted.
Roseanne Barr was fired from ABC for issuing a single tweet against Planet of the Apes lady Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama’s longtime Iranian-born adviser. Never-Trumpers were thrilled that a comedian like Barr, who is a vocal Trump supporter, was fired over making what was obviously a joke about an adult public figure.
Yet now those same Never-Trumpers, who claim to speak for all conservatives, are crying in defense of a powerful Hollywood director who appears to have a sexual fetish for small children.
David French of National Review is one of the worst perpetrators. He was positively giddy when Roseanne was fired, but when it comes to Gunn losing his job for far worse offenses, French wrote, “This is not how we judge people. This is not how we determine the fate of a person’s career.” Really?
Here’s a quick experiment for David French to attempt. Make a post on your Facebook page, Mr. French, in which you praise President Trump’s tax cuts, ask for the wall on our southern border to be built, and then profess your support for Donald Trump’s reelection in 2020. Then, attempt to find a job in any industry in Hollywood or the Greater Los Angeles area. Report back to us in one year, assuming you haven’t starved to death.
The political left absolutely judges our side based on our political opinions, and has no problem destroying our careers, reputation or livelihood over holding pro-America positions.
S.E. Cupp, the token fake conservative on CNN, also rushed to Gunn’s defense: “This is mob rule deciding a person’s fate. And it sets a terrible precedent.” Sorry, Little Miss Cupp – the precedent has already been set. Ask actor James Woods how his Hollywood career is going since he became a vocal conservative a few years ago. Ever heard of a blacklist?
The Littlest Chicken Hawk, Ben Shapiro, was positively giddy when Roseanne was fired. But he says James Gunn’s tweets about raping toddlers “don’t mean he should have lost his job at Disney.” What kind of a nut thinks that a corporate brand which caters to families with young children can’t fire a person who vocally supports pedophilia?
In the minds of Conservatism, Inc., support for Trump or making a joke perceived as “racist” is a fireable offense, but support for pedophilia is not – so long as the offender is a vocal anti-Trumper like James Gunn.
Listening to losers like this is the reason why conservatives have been losing in the culture wars for so many years. The Never-Trumpers wring their hands and declare that we must never stoop to the level of the left, “otherwise we become just like them!” They insisted that we must nominate true conservatives like John McCain and Mitt Romney if we were going to be better than Barack Obama and the anti-American media.
They told us it’s better to go down in noble defeat than to compromise our principles. It was better to cast a vote for Hillary Clinton or that third-party doofus in Utah than to compromise our “principles” by voting for Donald Trump! Which “principle” is it that demanded that we vote for Hillary Clinton, by the way? Can we see it in writing?
The truth is, these Never-Trump losers are part of the political left. The only reason their careers exist is because they are propped up by the MSM, which allows them on-air as “acceptable” “conservatives.” They are scam artists, pied pipers and globalists in conservative trappings who have been playing for the other side all along.
We’re on to your scam now, guys. We refuse to play by your “Always Surrender” rulebook anymore. And if you don’t like what we just did to James Gunn, you’re really not going to enjoy what happens next.
