On Jeffrey Epstein’s Death, “Heads Must Roll” says Senator

Last week, news of the apparent suicide of accused sex trafficker, wealthy financier, and acquaintance of several high-profile politicians, shocked the airwaves. Early indications seemed to show that Epstein hanged himself inside the Manhattan Correctional Center.

Since the accused sex trafficker’s death, many have questioned how it could have been allowed to happen. One of these individuals is U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE). Last Saturday, an irate Sasse penned a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr. In the missive, the Senator stated that “heads must roll.”

Sasse remarked, “The Department of Justice failed, and today Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirators think they might have just gotten one last sweetheart deal.”

Continuing, he quipped, “Every single person in the Justice Department — from your Main Justice headquarters staff all the way to the night-shift jailer — knew that this man was a suicide risk, and that his dark secrets couldn’t be allowed to die with him. Given Epstein’s previous attempted suicide, he should have been locked in a padded room under unbroken, 24/7, constant surveillance. Obviously, heads must roll.”

Reportedly, Epstein attempted to commit suicide less than three weeks before his death. However, Lee Plourde, a Department of Justice spokesman, informed the New York Post that the wealthy financier wasn’t on suicide watch at the time of his death.

The fired up Senator went on to add that the “Department of Justice should not have allowed this to happen” because the accused sex trafficker’s demise “deprives his victims of the opportunity to confront him in court and to see him held accountable for his crimes” and “also makes it harder to unravel his ring and to hold accountable the many other powerful men who raped and exploited these children.”

When he learned about Epstein’s death, Barr initiated a Justice Department probe into the incident. In a statement, the Attorney General commented, “I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”

Like Sasse, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was also livid about Epstein’s reported suicide. On Tuesday’s broadcast of Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” the attorney to President Donald J. Trump maintained that the apparent suicide shouldn’t have ever occurred at the facility where the accused sex trafficker was being held and contended that the guards have no excuse for not watching Epstein more closely.

Giuliani stated, “It’s a jail rather than a prison. A jail is a place you hold people when they’re awaiting trial. A prison is where you put them when they finally get sentenced. Those are more permanent places.”

The former New York City Mayor aptly added, “There’s absolutely no excuse for this. What happened here, to me, is mind-boggling. It’s impossible to happen. It’s a relatively small facility. This isn’t Rikers Island… with many, many different buildings. One building. Almost everything is within view if you want it to be, of the guards… The guy was a high-risk prisoner, wasn’t he? He’s a guy that there are probably 50 very important people that have a motive to kill him… We know there are some people that are in a lot of trouble because of Epstein. They know who they are. There’s tremendous motive to kill him.”

Giuliani argued that Epstein should have been under armed guard 24/7 because of his notoriety and the sick nature of his alleged crimes.

He remarked, “His room should have been guarded because there was every possibility some prisoner that got loose would get in there and stab him, kill him, choke him, make it look like he hung… He was the guy they most wanted to kill in that prison. Of all the prisoners there, he’s the guy one of those prisoners would love to kill, just to have that on his creds. And probably nobody would turn him in if he did it. So he would feel a certain sense of protection.”

Concluding, the President’s lawyer said, “You’ve got to understand a prison… The people running that understand it. It would be very hard for me to understand the explanation as to why this man wasn’t watched 24 hours a day.”

Fueling the conspiracy theories about whether or not Epstein killed himself is the report that the Medical Examiner is not releasing the cause of death. The ME’s office announced it could not announce Epstein’s cause of death, saying its “pending further information.”

You mean its not obvious Epstein hung himself? If there is any indication of another mode of death then that would indicate Epstein was murdered and did not kill himself. Why wouldn’t the Medical Examiner at least release that info? Weird.

According to Fox News, on Tuesday, the Justice Department announced that the two guards assigned to monitor Epstein had been put on administrative leave. These guards reportedly manipulating log entries to reflect that they were checking in on Epstein and other prisoners more often than they actually were when instead they were napping.

Who knows what the twists and turns of the intriguing investigation into the death of Epstein will uncover. Until it’s completed, some of the wealthy financier’s associates in high places will likely remain more than a little nervous, but still free to commit more crimes, possibly against children.
