We knew it would be bad. The Democrats got control of the House in a time when they have been more brazen about their disregard for law, order, logic and morality. They have been increasingly radicalized to a point of rabid fanaticism.
Handing control of any portion of our government to such a crowd can’t possibly be a good thing. Sadly, the “moderate” Nancy Pelosi is actually exceeding our worst fears. She just handed significant power to the most extreme minds in the Democratic Party. It’s far worse than you think.
The New Radical
This isn’t the first time you’ve heard the name Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. There are two opinions of her as a politician. The extreme lefties love her boldness and willingness to say whatever it takes to stick it to the old, stuffy Republicans.
Conversely, anyone with a fully functioning brain thinks she’s a blithering idiot. If you want a real challenge in your life, try to find a five-minute video clip of her where she doesn’t say something overwhelmingly stupid. Go ahead. We’ll wait.
Cortez isn’t just stupid. She’s also radical. We can rattle off a best hits of her policy ideas, and you’ll probably react with a combination of head shaking and cold sweating. One of her most recent proposals is a 70-percent wealth tax. Clearly she doesn’t understand the difference between income and wealth, and she has no idea how much paying a 70-percent wealth tax would cripple our economy.
Along with that tax, she’s advocated for a $3 trillion per year (or more) social healthcare program. She vociferously calls for the abolition of ICE — to the point that she refused to vote for a Democrat bill because it didn’t abolish ICE. She has also suggested universal housing (without even guessing at a price tag) and universal basic income.
If none of that were enough, she’s a fan of late-term abortion, and she is crafting her own first bid of legislation for a new green deal that will bankrupt America in order to fight climate change (that she thinks is going to end the world in 12 years).
Outside of policy, she’s a fan of Louis Farrakhan, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and all of the infamous murderers throughout socialism’s history. To summarize, the only task more difficult than finding footage of her saying something smart is finding a position she supports that is anything less than radical and dangerous.
Her New Power
Thus, she is the perfect candidate for Nancy Pelosi to assign to the House Committee of Oversight and Reform. This is one of the most powerful positions in Congress, and it almost never includes freshmen Representatives. Worse, Cortez has publicly stated that she would like to abuse the position to punish Donald Trump’s family. What was their crime in her eyes? They disagreed with her on Twitter.
There is no question that this radical will corruptly wield her power to the detriment of our country. Pelosi knows this and still put her on the committee. In fact, it’s why she made the decision. Pelosi’s hope is that Cortez will abuse the position in order to cause trouble for Donald Trump.
The Radical Crowd
The worst part of this story isn’t Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It’s her new crew. Joining her as freshmen on the committee are Ro Khanna, from California, and Rashida Tlaib, from Michigan. You might remember Tlaib from her swearing-in ceremony. That’s when she told a crowd how she told her young son that she was going to “impeach the mother [expletive deleted].” Is that what she thinks is appropriate language to talk to children with? Tlaib is a radical Palestinian who openly supports terrorist regimes and the downfall of Israel.
Does this all sound extreme? It is. Nancy Pelosi has empowered self-described enemies of our country to oversee every action of our government. They can obstruct policy with impunity, and since they are like-minded in their radicalism, this new team can effectively shape the governance of America without drafting a single scrap of legislation. Don’t forget, this is deliberate.
Nancy Pelosi gladly shut down the government for over a month. She claims it was to stand for her party and principles, but she got literally nothing on the Democratic agenda out of the deal that was eventually signed. Worse, she never asked for anything. Not a single suggestion was made by her camp to reform health care, immigration, tax policy, foreign policy or anything else. They just shut the government down in order to try and make President Trump look bad. That’s literally it.
Now, they’re doubling down on that ideology. They have filled the Oversight Committee with freshman radicals who hate America. Their only hope is that these inexperienced ideologies will overstep their boundaries and prevent the government from working. Then, they’ll try to blame it on President Trump. It’s not a figure of speech. Pelosi has outright betrayed this country.
