When governments seize control over people’s lives, it’s almost always cloaked under the guise of the greater good. That’s precisely what radical Democrats are pushing as they seek to limit your choices and hold sway over your lives.
Hitler’s National Socialist German Worker’s Party took away guns to make citizens safer. That didn’t work out so well for Jews unable to defend themselves from forced labor camps and genocide.
Hugo Chavez and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela seized control over businesses and the very means of earning a living. Today, the country suffers abject poverty where people fight and die over food.
When the Communists rose to power in Russia and formed the Soviet Union, upwards of 20 million people were killed and it spurred a global nuclear missile crisis.
Today, Communist China steals the intellectual property of innovators across the world and is creating the ultimate internet-based Big Brother monitoring system.
Government control has gone awry throughout every point in history, but American liberal socialists have not learned the lesson. And before you say, these things will never happen here, take a look at four examples Democrats are pushing to exact their control over your life RIGHT NOW in the name of the greater good.
1: Ban Cigarettes for People Under 100 Years Old
Hawaiian lawmakers are not satisfied with the hefty taxes levied on the cigarette industry. Despite pricing the products out of many people’s budgets, Democrats on the Pacific island chain want them banned entirely.
State Rep. Richard Creagan has introduced a bill that would incrementally raise the legal age to smoke to 30 in 2020, 40 in 2021, 50 in 2022, 60 in 2023 and 100 in 2024.
While the legislation seems silly on its face, the concerning fact is that a liberal extremist believes he can control adults and dictate your choices.
Imagine you have served in the military or raised children into adulthood and some politician says you cannot smoke a cigarette until you are 50 or 100 years old. Talk about audacity. No one is saying that cigarettes are a healthy choice, but it’s not the government’s choice to make for you.
2: Arrest People for Offering Plastic Straws
In Minnesota, four Democrats crafted legislation that would charge restaurant owners with a criminal offense for offering patrons a plastic straw. Imagine slapping on the cuffs over a plastic straw? Outrageous!
The ban on plastic straws is another instance where liberals are trying to put a Band-Aid on a gaping environmental wound. The country and world have significant environmental issues to tackle. But banning plastic straws puts companies out of business and sends people to the unemployment line.
Beyond that, paper and wood straws are taking their place, which means more trees will get cut down. Such bans are not real solutions, just ways to control the free market and limit citizen choices.
3: Offer Phony Free Medicare for All
The idea of free stuff has always been the carrot used to lead people down the path of ruin. When Chavez seized control of the oil production in Venezuela, people enjoyed the fruits of other’s labor and lived high on the hog. As the saying goes, “teach a man to fish.” But the government was unable to maintain, update and expand the oil operations. A government, as we all know too well, is inept at running anything.
That being said, liberal extremists and socialists in the Democratic Party are pushing to eliminate the healthcare insurance industry entirely and put the massive sector in the hands of the government. Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez among others are peddling healthcare for free. Unfortunately, Americans already got a taste of what government intervention would bring about.
During the previous administration, government-subsidized Obamacare resulted in skyrocketing healthcare costs, reduction in quality care and insurance coverage that was rendered worthless due to massive deductibles. Current estimates of their programs would bankrupt the country. The idea that far-left Democrats want even more control is frightening.
4: Take Away Your Guns or Ammo
At the end of the day, discussions about government control trail back to Adolf Hitler. His totalitarian government disarmed the public, and the defenseless citizenry suffered horrors. That’s why the founding fathers included the Second Amendment. Americans can stand up to government tyranny — not because our politicians are somehow superior moral people (obviously) — but because we are able to fight back if necessary.
Rendering people powerless is the ultimate act of control. To that end, Democrats have been relentless in enacting laws that curb gun rights. Among the latest attempts to take away your means of self-defense, Connecticut Democrats are trying to level a 50-percent tax on ammunition. It’s a backdoor way to disarm you.
Americans may want to look at Democrats through the lens of government control. The bulk of their policies focuses on taking control of your choices, free markets and the ability to defend yourself.
