The Generals and Trump

Hillary Clinton, backed by a platoon of liberal media pundits, have gone out of their way to question Donald Trump’s judgment and ability to lead the nation’s military during the perilous times we live in. Now, 88 retired Generals and Admirals have penned a letter of support for the Republican, stating their confidence in him as the right choice for Commander in Chief.

Rear Admiral Charles Williams, who received the Legion of Merit, and Major General Sidney Shachnow, the only survivor of the Holocaust to become a U.S. general organized the public letter.

Shachnow stated in a press release that Trump has, “the temperament to be commander-in-chief.” Williams indicated the idea of the letter came because military leaders believe “Donald Trump is more trusted to be commander-in-chief than Hillary Clinton.”

In the letter, the retired military leaders warned that the potentially dangerous combination of current policy choice and budget cuts to the military budget will encourage enemies like ISIS to take even bolder steps against our allies and this nation itself.

“That is especially the case if our government persists in the practices that have brought us to this present pass,” the retired military leaders wrote in the letter. “For this reason, we support Donald Trump and his commitment to rebuild our military, to secure our borders, to defeat our Islamic supremacist adversaries and restore law and order domestically. We urge our fellow Americans to do the same.”

Trump has repeatedly reminded the American voter that Clinton is nothing more than a continuation of Barack Obama, if not worse, and the Generals agree. The letter continues:

“Hillary Clinton has made clear she is running as a staunch defender of the status quo when it comes to the issues facing our military, and she has shown through her foreign policy decisions and her mishandling of classified information that she lacks the judgment to do the job,”

Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn added in the press release. “Mr. Trump’s deep and growing support in the military community and his thoughtful proposals show he’s the right person to lead our men and women in uniform.”

True to form, liberal outlets like Politico and The Daily Beast were quick to cast dispersion on anyone who dare side with Trump and question Clinton. One day after the letter of endorsement appeared, the headline in The Daily Beast was, The Disgraced and Little-Known Generals Backing Donald Trump.

After discounting the careers of most of the generals, Nancy A. Yousseff rather dismissively wrote, “To be sure, scores of the signatories had exemplary military records and continue to work in public service. There are Vietnam veterans, three four-star generals and an admiral, as well as key commanders in the U.S. war in Iraq.”

One of the retired generals both The Daily Beast and Politico took aim at is General William Boykin, former head of U.S. Army Special Forces who was part of the search for Osama bin Laden and a founder of the famed Delta Force. Boykin had long been a favorite target of progressives since his speech years ago when he said about his search for a Somali warlord, “I knew that my God was a real God, and his was an idol.”

At the height of the war in Iraq, Boykin had the temerity to say, “We’re a Christian nation, because our foundation and roots are Judeo-Christian… and the enemy is a guy named Satan.” Most liberals see Boykin’s conservative views as negating his years of stellar service in the military.

In truth, the generals and admirals who signed the letter of endorsement represent the brightest and best of the last half century of military leadership. Those who should know, realize that Hillary Clinton is not the person to lead this nation but Donald Trump is. Anyone who checks the records will see that attacks on generals like Boykin are veiled attempts to discredit anyone who bucks the liberal line.

In a statement released by the Trump campaign, he said, “I thank each of them for their confidence in me to serve as commander-in-chief … Under my administration, we will end the weak foreign policy of the last eight years, rebuild our military, give our troops clear rules of engagement and take care of our veterans when they come home.”
