The Portland ‘Racist’ Killer Was a Bernie Supporter

By now, many readers are familiar with the case of Jeremy Christian, the “white supremacist” killer who stabbed three people in the course of verbally assaulting two young women he perceived to be Muslims (only one was a follower of the religion, while the other was her friend) on a commuter train traveling through Portland, Oregon.

Two of the three men he stabbed died of their wounds; one was Rick Best, a father of four and Army veteran of 23 years who had fought in Iraq. The other was Taliesin Namkai-Meche, a recent graduate of Reed College who had been described by his professors as “an extraordinary person.”

The women who Christian yelled at, an unnamed 17-year-old who was wearing a hijab and her 17-year-old friend Destinee Mangum, who is black, were both shaken by the incident. They later thanked both men who died for coming to their aid. The third man, 21-year-old Micah David-Cole Fletcher, is still recovering in a hospital from his stab wounds.

Christian is now in custody and has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder, one of attempted murder and possession of a restricted weapon. In the meantime, the media has laid into him heavily, accusing him of being both a racist and a supporter of President Trump. But it’s shameful how much of the mainstream media lumps those two characterizations together.

Certainly, there’s plenty of evidence of the former. Footage has been found and is circulating on the web of Christian confronting Trump supporters at a free-speech rally in late April, yelling racial epithets and gesturing aggressively with a baseball bat, which was confiscated by police officers. There are multiple pictures and videos of Christian giving the Nazi ‘Sieg Heil’ salute while wearing an American flag draped like a cape over his shoulders. Various witnesses claim that he shouted at various people and labeled himself “a nihilist.” Joey Gibson, a spokesman for a group called Patriot Prayer, which participated in the rally, called Christian “not a good guy” and “all crazy.” He claimed that Christian insulted both organizers of the rally and multiple counter-protesters.

Christian’s unwelcome beliefs about race apparently go back at least to the late 1990s, when he became passionate about Aryan “Black Metal” music from Scandanavia. Various posts he made on social media confirm these beliefs, with one stating, “I want a job in Norway cutting off the heads of people that circumcise babies” and another reading, “I just challenged Ben Ferencz (last living Nuremberg prosecutor) to a debate in the Hague with Putin as our judge. I will defend the Nazis, and he will defend the AshkeNazis.” The FBI is currently looking into charging Christian with hate crimes.

But oddly enough, when it comes to politics, Christian’s views don’t fit neatly into the white supremacist box that progressives and social justice warriors had drawn for him. Indeed, just the opposite is the case as evidence now has shown that Christian was, in fact, a supporter of both progressive Democrat Bernie Sanders and third-party environmentalist Jill Stein. “Has any American presidential candidate ever received this much support from around the world?” one of his social media meme posts reads. “The world feels the Bern!”

“I’d rather waste a vote on somebody who’s been arrested for fighting injustice than waste a vote on Trump or Hillary. Either one of those two, I would gladly rip limb from limb. Plus, [Bernie] is probably the only candidate of Jewish decent [sic] I would vote for. He might even be Atheist or Agnostic. Maybe he would take that In God We Trust s*** off our Zionist tax dollars. Plus, I think he will make it legal to get stoned in public and elementary schools,” wrote Christian under a post that simply read, “Bernie.”

Another meme Christian posted was “The Six Stages of Bernie Support,” which displayed six emoticons with the tagline “Welcome to the revolution, Berner.” Another post read, “Got my OK to vote Bernie on May 17th. Bernie for President!”

But Christian wasn’t just pro-Bernie; he was also rabidly anti-Hillary and anti-Trump. “Methinks I’m gonna mask up and start assaulting anyone wearing a Hillary shirt. Maybe a home invasion if you got that stupid sign in front of your house. Maybe just throw rocks thru [sic] your windows… Hillary is a warhawk [sic] and refused Honduran refugees from a situation she created making Honduras the most violent country in the Western Hemisphere per capita!!! F*** that slimy wh***!!! Can’t wait till she sets foot in my Rip City!!!” read another of Christian’s posts.

“Anybody wants to join me in smashing some Clinton Crime Family and Trump Mafia supporters, give me a ring…” read yet another.

“Death to Hillary Rodham Clinton and all her supporters!!! To be carried out by Bernie supporters who didn’t traitor and vote Hillary… I’ve had it with Hillary. She shut down Black Lives Matters activists, and now Benghazi Bill has a Vet escorted out. Guess what you get in [North Portland] for that, Bill? I’m gonna beat your b****, homie, KO. PERIOD. Hillary steps foot in my hometown, it’s on sight. Best stay away from Rose City ’til wifey pooh hangs up her hat… Hillary: Mama said knock you out!!!”

It’s possible that the media may have characterized Christian as a Trump supporter because of a post that read, “If Donald Trump is the next Hitler, then I’m going to join his SS to put an end to the Monotheistic Question. All Zionist Jews, all Christians who do not follow Christ’s teaching of love, charity and forgiveness and all jihadi Muslims are going to Madagascar or the Ovens/FEMA Camps!!! Does this make me a fascist!!! #MonotheistHolocaust FinalSolutiontotheMonotheistQuestion.”

There was also a rant which stated, “I’m a man of my word. I’m gonna put you f***ing Clinton Mafia fans to work building Trump’s wall!!! I might even join whatever crazy Gestapo Trump whips up. I know he needs a few thugs. F*** you all and Good night!!!”

A meme Christian copied shows Bernie Sanders in a Captain America costume punching what looks like President Trump wearing a Nazi brownshirt uniform, complete with a red armband featuring a “T” logo.

Christian’s verbal rants didn’t end with the stabbings. On the Portland street where he was cornered by police officers, he dared them to open fire on him, shouting, “Shoot me! Go ahead and shoot me in the back, you piece of s***!” Later, after he was jailed, he continued to yell at his initial appearance in court, crying out, “You call it terrorism, I call it patriotism!” and “You’ve got no safe place! …Death to the enemies of America!”

The night before the incident on the train, Christian had hurled a bottle of Gatorade at a black woman, who then sprayed mace at him. Later the same evening, Christian was caught on cellphone video ranting “You don’t like it? You got a problem with what I’m saying? F*** all you Christians and Muslims and f****** Jews, f****** die. Burn you at the stake… f****** die… Call the police, I dare you.”

In 2002, Christian was shot in the face during an attempt at holding up a convenience store. He was convicted of robbery and kidnapping for that incident, according to Oregon state corrections records.

As of this writing, Christian is being held without bail at the Multnomah County Jail in Portland. Hopefully, in the coming weeks, his true political beliefs will be clarified in the media, so conservatives will no longer be identified with this sorry misanthrope.
