Immigration Fail: Islamic Terrorist Arrested for Plot to Bomb U.S. Cities, Lived Here for Past Two Decades

While the left pushes for increased immigration, the dangers of allowing unverified refugees in ignores the consequences of what doing so would do to the security of our nation.

For proof of that look no further than this story. The Justice Department announced this week that a Lebanese refugee living in New Jersey has been arrested as a terror operative. Alexei Saab came to the US on an “unspecified visa program” and has been living in this country for nearly two decades. He is a trained Hezbollah fighter.

To further illustrate how broken our immigration system is, the Justice Department also revealed that Saab had traveled back and forth between the US and Lebanon during those 20 years to deliver information to Hezbollah about possible attack sites. The sites in question included transportation hubs and landmarks in New York City, Boston, and Washington.

The U.S. attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York wrote, “Saab focused on the structural weaknesses of locations he surveilled in order to determine how a future attack could cause the most destruction. [his] reporting to the IJO included the materials used to construct a particular target, how close in proximity one could get to a target, and site weaknesses or ‘soft spots’ that the IJO could exploit if it attacked a target in the future.”

The IJO or Islamic Jihad Organization, best known as “Islamic Jihad”, was once thought to have all died out. The group has resurfaced in the form of the Lebanese Hizb Allah. Since then, Hizb Allah operatives have been busy planning operations to fulfill their part in Iran’s “shadow war” with the West.

Saab was arrested on July 9, but the FBI’s formal complaint against him was unsealed just yesterday. The 33-page report shows that he trained with Hezbollah from 1996 to 2000. During that time Saab joined in missions conducted by the terrorist organization, some of which included fighting against Israelis.

The same year (2000) he came to America on an unspecified visa category, he was upgraded to the “Islamic Jihad Organization,” a group that is often referred to as “Unit 910.” This is the same group that is responsible for intelligence and counterintelligence operations outside Lebanon along with planning attacks on Western targets.

Alexei Saab came here specifically for the purpose of waging war on the United States.

It’s understandable how Saab was given a visa before 9/11 but he had at least ten reported trips back to Lebanon to work and train with Hezbollah between 2005 and 2008 while also being vetted for naturalization.

It is common knowledge that Unit 910 used people who could access our immigration system easily. Most often these were people who had relatives in our country that made it possible for a terrorist like Saab to enter though a family visa (chain migration).

The FBI complaint shows that Saab went back to Lebanon during 2004 and 2005 to take advantage of intensive courses on bomb-making. Saab was found with numerous photos of places such as the Washington Monument, the Supreme Court building, the Capitol, and various bridges in New York City.

Todd Bensman, a former intel and counterterrorism official, wrote a three-part series last year on the threat of Unit 910 operatives. Considering the fact over 60,000 Lebanese immigrants have been granted green cards since 2001, the government would take the threat of Unit 910 more seriously.

After President Trump reinstated sanctions on Iran last year, Qassim Soleimani, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned, “We are near you, where you can’t even imagine. Come. We are ready.”

Thanks to years of an immigration system that has placed the whims of chain migration ahead of Americans’ security, our enemies don’t need a victory on the battlefield to defeat us – they use our own insane policies against us.

Before Trump took office, America issued nearly 2.2 million green cards to nationals of predominantly Muslim countries between 2001 and the first quarter of 2018.

How many other Alexei Saabs are among us? Why spend hundreds of billions on wars in the Middle East and not do what it takes to save lives here?
