Trump Achieves Historic Unemployment Numbers for Minorities and the Media Credits Obama For It

Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, the United States rides an economic revival driving people off welfare rolls and into jobs. Millions of everyday Americans no longer have to endure the stigma of having their hand out for assistance.

These days “work” is no longer the shameful four-letter word of the Obama years. Good, hard-working American are even starting to utter the word “prosperity.”

It seems ironic that the same liberal mouthpieces that backed Obama for his job-killing policies now want to claim the Democrat should also be praised for Pres. Trump’s stunning success. Yes, liberal extremists suffering Trump Derangement Syndrome just can’t handle the truth.

Joe Scarborough, of the left-leaning Morning Joe talk show recently said that the recent vertical-trending 4.1 GDP numbers are really Obama’s doing.

“Yeah, it’s a strong economy,” Scarborough said. “But Mika, this is not an economy that Donald Trump gave us. This is an economy that’s part of the seven-year ongoing recovery.”

Although a historic case has been made that presidents inherit the previous administration’s economy, Pres. Trump ripped up just about every Obama-era reg, policy and executive order and put the weight of the U.S. economy squarely on his own shoulders. One might recall Obama’s sarcasm about the Trump economic plan that it was fairy dust.

“Well, how exactly are you going to do that? What exactly are you going to do? There’s no answer to it,” Obama famously said during the run-up to the 2016 election. “He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, what, how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer.”

Perhaps Obama should consider the magic of the recent economic measures.

Millions Drop Off Food Stamp Rolls

At the conclusion of Pres. Trump’s first six quarters in office, the number of struggling Americans has dropped dramatically.

One measure of a prosperous U.S. economy can be calculated by how many people require public assistance. According to data from the USDA, food stamp (SNAP) enrollment stood at 42,134,301 during Pres. Trump’s first complete month in office. Since then, it has steadily declined to 39,329,356. That means that more than 2.8 million people are proudly standing on their own two feet.

With more Americans earning higher salaries and wages, the Trump Administration has pushed for welfare reform including work requirements for able-bodied SNAP applicants. Although Congressional leaders have dragged their collective feet on the issue, America’s unemployment numbers point to more jobs than qualified workers to fill them.

That’s why the Trump Administration is pushing to double-down on growing American prosperity by investing former welfare dollars into vital worker retraining.

The Truth about Minority Prosperity

Liberal Democrats continue to promote identity politics that would divide people by race, economic status, and gender. Claiming Trump-era policies are somehow discriminatory, the numbers do not support such accusations.

Under Pres. Trump’s direction, unemployment has dipped as low as 3.8 percent. Should it drop any more, Pres. Trump will have brought about the lowest rate since 1969. Unemployment remains under 4 percent and many economists consider the country to be at full employment. Others say there are more available positions than people to fill them. To call the current economy a drastic departure from the Obama years would be quite the understatement.

When Obama took office, unemployment stood at 4.9 percent. When he left office, it hovered at 4.8 percent. That’s almost no gain at all.

But during his time in the Oval Office, the country suffered unemployment periods of 9-plus percent and in his second year, it hit 10 percent. But a critical measure is how badly African-Americans and Hispanic-Americans struggled under Democrats.

Welcoming an influx of low-wage, illegal immigrants, African-Americans, Hispanics and non-college degree citizens competed against Third World-labor who stole their jobs and drove down wages.

During the Obama years, African-American unemployment never improved above 8.4 percent. But the most frightening statistic is that African-Americans suffered unemployment rates above 15 percent in 28 months during Obama. Since Pres. Trump won the 2016 election, African-American unemployment has declined steadily and achieved a new historic low of 5.9 percent.

Hispanic-American workers have also enjoyed greater prosperity under the Trump Administration. Unemployment rates for Hispanic-Americans upticked from 6.3 to as high as 13 percent during the failed Obama years. At the end of eight years of economic upheaval, the Democrat president could only claim a pathetic 0.4 percent improvement. Pres. Trump has made those gains between months, never mind years.

The racial employment disparity continues to shrink under the Republican held White House and Congress. This begs the question: which party’s policies hurt minorities?

The left can play all the identity politics it wants. But, there’s no running from the truth. The Trump Economy replaces welfare with prosperity and provides opportunity for Americans of all walks of life.
