Trump’s Iran Tweet, Same Strategy as With North Korea

Donald Trump has been called a bully, a buffoon, and more. But what his opponents fail, or refuse, to realize is that there is more method than madness to the way he communicates with his enemies.

To understand this, we have to break down a common misconception about men and how they relate to each other. Often referred to as ‘locker room talk,’ men taunt each other and brag. This is not simply boorish behavior- it is how men test each other for weakness. It’s an important part of setting up dominance hierarchies which enable groups of men to decide who can be relied on when the mammoth blood hits the fan.

Well, the 45th President is no stranger to locker room talk, and he knows how to handle high-pressure negotiations. He also understands that in a room full of wild cards- it pays to be the wildest card of all.

You see, Trump is a master of persuasion. He wrote The Art of the Deal, and he wasn’t just whistling Dixie. He’s using tactics from his book left and right—only the mainstream media is refusing or failing to notice.

The first thing you need to understand about Trump is he has a very unusual set of skills. Now, if you look at a set of skills as being like a set of tools then you can understand that one set of tools must be used in a very different way to another set of tools.

If I have a hammer, and you have a shovel- we would go about solving the same problem in very different ways. If all I ever knew was how to use hammers, then I would look at your shovel problem solving as crazy. You, in turn, would see my hammer techniques as equally crazy.

This is how Trump’s skill set should be understood- as a rare set of high-power tools that few if anyone else in the world has in equal proportion. That means his methods are going to be hard to understand, even for people much smarter than him.

So, when he started tweeting at Kim Jung-Un, calling him “Little Rocketman,” and referring to the relative size and effectiveness of their big red buttons- it wasn’t just a pissing contest. Trump was establishing his dominance- indeed our nation’s dominance.

Now let’s get something straight. Hierarchies of dominance are older than trees. They work. It’s a proven fact. Not only is establishing dominance an effective strategy- but it’s one that has been essentially forbidden in the west for at least 50 years. So when Donald Trump basically said, “My nukes are bigger than yours,” we all started to worry about getting nuked.

No one ever imagined that it would result in North Korea agreeing to decommission their nuclear weapons. What did we learn from all this? Well, we learned that Trump is crazy like a combed-over fox. We also learned that looking crazy, and being crazy, is not the same thing.

As it turned out, Jung-Un- evil as he may be- is still a rational actor motivated by self-interest. That means he can be dealt with.

Now, after besting North Korea, Trump has turned to Iran. Recently Iran’s leaders tweeted out a threat against America. President Trump responded powerfully and in a way that clearly asserted our dominance.

Iran is saying all kinds of crazy mess, and Trump is saying some even crazier mess. Then, predictably, CNN and their like are moaning about how Trump is going to get us nuked. They don’t stop for a moment and say, “Hmm, this is a lot like the tack he took with North Korea- that worked out well. Maybe this will turn out okay too.”

No. How could they? It’s not in their best interest to think clearly out loud. So they get all upset about the war they secretly hope we’ll get into. The left wouldn’t say ‘boo’ if Trump were to sneak over to Iran in the middle of the night, like Obama did, to deliver a few million dollars to the Iranians. On the other hand, maybe they would. Whatever hurts Trump, right? That’s clearly their motto.

But they did like it when he squirted off a few missiles at Syria. So, who knows what the left would say. Who cares anyway? They’re just an example of how to be wrong, after all.

But the fact is, Trump is taking the exact same tack with Iran that he did with North Korea. And he solved a problem that no president before him was able to solve.

He’s got another track record that no other president in recent years can claim- he hasn’t gotten us into any new wars. Sure, he finished off ISIS tidily. If his streak continues, Trump may just have all of our biggest enemies eating out of our hands in time to get reelected.
