Trumps Take on Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis

One of the hottest news stories this week is the jailing and release of Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis.

If you’re not familiar with the story here’s the short of it…

A Kentucky County Clerk was arrested and jailed for refusing to give marriage licenses to gay couples who came into her office.

Kim Davis refused to issue these licenses citing her Christian faith as reason for not doing so.  Well, just the other day Donald Trump finally weighed in on this hot button issue.

“You have to go with it. The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land” said Trump on MSNBC’s morning Joe.

Trump also mentioned that he had wished Kim Davis had not been jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples.

“I would say the simple answer is let her clerks do it” Trump added.

Whether you agree with this answer or not you’ve got to give Trump credit for being himself and sticking to his beliefs.  Unlike many other politicians who change their opinions based on what direction the wind is blowing that particular day.

There are unfortunately many scenarios where the law of the land and the law of God don’t always match up perfectly.  It’s up to each of us to decide how we handle these issues personally.

One you’ll have to answer to on this Earth, another you’ll answer to when you leave it.
