Why the Media Won’t Talk About Yemen

The media is practically salivating. Some of Trump’s disavowed former colleagues are in hot water. The leftists want to pivot that into an actual attack on Trump’s presidency, but so far, they still have a long way to go.

There’s more to this news cycle than the detriment it could bring to 45. It’s also a great excuse to ignore major international news that they don’t want you to see.

We’re talking about Yemen. It’s been in a bad way for a long time, and the forces below the surface are tied to things that really hurt the mainstream narrative. So, naturally, we’re going to look at it in detail and see the ugly truths that mainstream media tries to keep hidden.

What Is Happening

Many Americans are completely unaware that Yemen has been in a state of civil war for several years. The first conflicts date back to the early 2000s, but a series of peace deals and their breaking have plagued the country for almost 2 decades.

Things escalated severely in 2014. The rebel Houthi group seized the capital. Saudi Arabia led a coalition to support the established Hadi government and temporarily succeeded in 2015. Since then, war has raged.

The direct death toll from the war so far is estimated to be over 13,000, but the bigger problem is the widespread famine that has resulted from the country’s sustained chaos. More than 50,000 have died as a result of that famine.

That is an extremely brief summary of the conflict. As such, it shouldn’t seem like a taboo topic for mainstream media, but how many headlines have you seen in regards to Yemen? ZERO.

Recent Controversy

Those who have seen some headlines might know about the most recent controversy. A U.S.-made bomb hit a school bus in the past week. It killed more than 40 children and injured plenty more civilians. Adding to the controversy, the bomb was dropped by Saudi forces. They have been supporting the Hadi government from the start, and they have shown no intention to ease their efforts.

This has led to the controversial question as to America’s culpability in these deaths. Some claim we’re responsible for manufacturing the warheads. Others, including James Mattis, have made the point that we regularly sell weapons to our allies. What those allies do with the weapons is not up to us.

Regardless of how you feel on that topic, there’s a bigger question of whether or not we should be allied with Saudi Arabia. The country has certainly proved a useful ally in the Middle East in the past, but even Trump has criticized the regime for some of their barbaric practices. There are currently political prisoners scheduled for beheading for daring to commit the crime of promoting the equal treatment of women.

Keep in mind, these aren’t radical faux feminists of the U.S. These prisoners are criminals because they don’t think women should be stoned to death after being raped.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is one of the strongest and most reliable military oppositions to Iran in the Middle East. Having someone to keep that mad regime in check is vital. So, as you can see, this situation is messy at best.

Iranian Involvement

But, a messy situation is usually what mainstream media loves the most. No matter what happens, they can just point fingers at Trump for any action — since there are no clear pathways to peace in Yemen. Yet, they won’t touch these stories with a 20-foot pole. A big factor in that is Iranian involvement.

You see, Iran funded and trained the Houthi rebels before they attacked Yemen’s capital. Moreover, they did this after 2013. For those paying attention, that means Iran very likely used cash given to them by Obama to fund terrorist rebels and ignite a civil war that has killed tens of thousands.

This is very much against the mainstream narrative that Iran is peaceful, disarmed and ready to be major players in a cooperative world stage. If there’s one thing the media can’t admit, it’s that Iran, largely funded by Obama’s Iran deal, is sowing discord and killing thousands of innocent civilians.

Obama’s Bloody Hands

Even if you discount Iran’s involvement and ties to Obama’s nuclear deal, the former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner has plenty of blood on his hands. He directly authorized drone strikes in Yemen during the early stages of the war. He’s also the one who authorized the sale of weapons that have been used by Saudi Arabia and their coalition. In fact, the very bomb that recently hit a school bus full of children was sold under Obama’s orders.

Now, Trump has not reversed this stance. He has continued to support Saudi Arabia as an ally since taking office. You can hold that against him or not, but the simple truth is that he has contributed far less to the civil war in Yemen than Obama did. Trump has not authorized strikes in the area or involved U.S. special forces in the conflict (like Obama did).

The number one reason you don’t hear about legacy is because it is yet another major stain on Obama’s legacy. The mainstream media still can’t allow that — two years after he left office.

There’s one thing you can trust. If a story is ignored by mainstream media, it is done so deliberately. Yemen is only one tragedy on a long list of proof that Obama was a failure and Iran is one of the greatest threats to peace and security on the planet. Mainstream media would rather be complicit in the ongoing massacre of tens of thousands than admit that anything 44 did was wrong.

Think about that for a minute. If this bothers you half as much as it should, share the truth. Let everyone know every time these crooks get it wrong. Share this story. Most importantly, vote in November.
